With her previous commitment to bands 4manbob and Sideshow coming to a close in 2008 along with her sideprojects The Gentlys and Solemn, Michal Willow has since enjoyed time to devote to her own songs. Michal loves old raw and rough country gospel music by the likes of Johnny Cash and Woodie Guthrey, and strives for truth in all her writing. Influenced also by Elliot Smith, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens and Ben Folds, WILLOW is an acoustic folk sound with her own distinct flavour.
Keep an ear on this Page this year for new songs posted and an EP on the way.
Hey there, We're coming up to Christchurch next weekend to play a couple of shows with Intergracia from Wellington. On Friday 10th of July we'll be playing at Zebedees with Intergracia & Awakened Inferno then on Saturday we'll be playing at Al's Bar with Intergracia & Dissolution. Hope to see you there! Cheers Osmium
I actually lie. Thats not really my new sound at all... I would love to work will you on a track from the new album though.. I think I would class this new album as 'circus pop' in some ways. Let me know if you'd be interested. Peace x
Wicked! I would be keen on grabbing a copy when it's finished, call me a fan but hey lol. And things here are good, I have found some really interesting kiwi musicians that have been hiding away on myspace.
We have been in contact with Autozamm, dDub and Supergroove trying to hook up shows with them. It doesnt look so good for autozamm, but supergroove and dDub. Would be wicked to play with either of the bands really.
Oh and David Kemptone has been mentoring us this year, but otherwise not a lot has happened.
Been nearly a year since Rock Camp, doesnt seem like that. we got some new photos up our page. Take a peek if you like, leave some comments if you feel like it.
How is it going? We have slowly turned more and more ska as the year has gone on.
So yeah this fuckin cop pulled me up and gave me a 500 dollar fine for carrying a passenger on a restricted-license (some Draconian bullshit law). So then I wrote this song called JUST DOIN' HIS JOB to teach those motherfuckers a lesson. Please check it out.
I caught your performance at the Harbour Light session this Friday gone. I really loved your voice and was wondering how I could get in touch with you...then tadah! There was your friend request. Nice to meet you. Let me know if you ever need another lady to sing with.
