I’m an emcee, producer, b-boy, recording engineer, promoter, graphic designer, and the founder of Mic Hand Recordings. Born May 12th 1983 in Iowa City, IA. Raised in Cedar Rapids, IA from then on. Grew up on Rock, Pop Rock, and Oldies courtesy of Mom and Pops. Got into rap around ’95, started freestyling and writing around ’98 with L.U.P., also started assembling a studio and making beats. I started performing and setting up Open Mic Nights in 2002, with the help of Colorless. Our first performance ever was a locally televised benefit show that we did at the Cedar Rapids Paramount Theater in front of 3000 people. In 2003 I, along with Colorless, was featured on “Graffiti Verite: The Sacred Elements of Hip Hop”, filmed by Bob Bryan. I have performed with many big names in Underground Hip Hop, and I made Semi-Finalist in the 2008 Independent Music World Series.
I put out my first CD-R in 2002 under the name MC Squared. Since then I have independently manufactured and distributed 6 more CD-R’s(also with the help of Colorless). All the CD’s I have put out have been produced, recorded, mixed, and designed by myself, except our 89.7 KRUI Freestyle’s CD which was performed over instrumentals on vinyl, and recorded by my homey Fonix, a few songs here and there co-produced by Myself and Dev Ill on “Valid Entries“, “Breakfast-Tack Fu Remix” produced by Tack Fu on my “Rough Drafts” disc, and production by Tack Fu & drumk of The 85 Decibel Monks, and, the title track on my newest album “It Goes Like This“ was produced by Coolzey.
In 2005 we assembled a group consisting of Myself, Colorless, Johnny Sixx(DJ), BlockBored(MC), and Cadenza Jones(Producer), we didn’t come up with a name for quite a while, went through some member changes, and finally ended up as The Other Elements consisting of Me, Colorless, and Johnny Sixx. We did a bunch of shows all over Iowa and through-out the Midwest, and were the local openers for most of the underground Hip Hop passing through Iowa City, opening for almost everybody on the Rhymesayers roster alone. The group broke up late 2007, shortly after our first tour ever, due to non-music related issues, and I started focusing 110 percent on my solo stuff.
2008, I started doing a monthly Hip Hop show called Super Fresh Saturday at this little dive bar called the Blue Collar Lounge. I had already been doing shows there on and off for more than a year, and had started bringing people in from out of state, like Kanser from Minneapolis, and Kinghellbastard from Milwaukee, what up homies!! I had plans to put out my new album in July ‘08, but, Cedar Rapids got flooded hardcore including My house and the Blue Collar Lounge. I stayed afloat, finished the new album, and have been working a lot with CasetheJoint, who is on my new CD, and is working on his new album, that I am producing a good chunk of. Also, my homey Steddy P from Missouri has been hard at work. I produced a beat that he and two of his like minded friends wrote an amazing song called “New Man” on, look it up!
2009-Good Things!
