Michele ACourt's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | Winner of the NZ Comedy Guild Award for Best Female Comedian for the past six years (2002 to 2007) Michele A’Court has successfully made a living, raised a child, and paid a mortgage for more than a decade as a professional comedian. A "perceptive student of the human condition" (Napier Daily Telegraph), she has been described as "sassy, snide, outrageous and possibly libelous" (NZ Herald), and "French and Saunders all rolled into one" (Dominion Post) - though she is smaller than this might suggest.
Comedy festival shows in New Zealand, Melbourne, Adelaide and Edinburgh have dealt with the war on terror, national and international politics, life, love and laughter, and a variety of other issues that make her want to drink.
Michele’s award winning solo show for 2005, "Heritage 101", focused on race relations and Kiwi nationhood, and won the NZ Festival Award for Best Show Concept 2005. Her 2006 show, "40 Odd Years", was an autobiographical retrospective that celebrated midlife crises and the depression epidemic.
Michele is also a corporate host and entertainer, celebrity debater, and freelance journalist. She provides weekly comedy spots on Auckland’s EasyMixFM, makes regular appearances on TVNZ’s "Breakfast", and National Radio’s "The Panel" and "9 to Noon" as a social commentator and book reviewer. | | Website | micheleacourt.com | | TV Shows | TV One's "Breakfast" (currently, as a "social commentator"); "Staines Down Drains" (currently on TV2 as the cartoon voice of Mary-Jane); Shortland St (2006 and 2000); Pulp Comedy (9 series over 9 years); Issues (sketch comedy); More Issues (sketch comedy); That Comedy Show (sketch comedy); Really Living (lifestyle reporter); Comedy Central (sketch comedy); "Letter to Blanchy" (comedy/drama); A Bit After Ten; Kiwi Shorts (presenter, NZ short film 1990); the Video Dispatch (1989); What Now (1987, 1988). Plus every stupid 1990s light entertainment show from "Give Us A Clue" to "Ready Steady Cook". Oh, and a guest on "Strassman". Everyone got a turn. |
