Im a stay at home mom, living as a missionary in Monterrey, Mexico. I have a degree in communications and specialize in media productions. Ever since the birth of my daughter, I have entirely devoted myself to her. She was born in Mexico, and because of that, was not screened at birth for possible dissorders. At seven months of age she still couldnt use her hands and had trouble lifting her head. A little later, she began having seizures. They increased until she suffered at least four a day. After much testing, we discovered that she had Phenylketunoria (PKU) an inherited disorder of metabolism in which protein cannot be broken down. The chemicals accumulate in the blood stream and the brain, causing serious problems.
We began treatment, and she has responded tremendously. Her seizures dissappeared and she is finally taking in the beauty of the world. Its like I'm meeting her for the first time. Up until six months ago, she was just there, slipping away slowly. Now, I have a cheerful, healthy engaged child. Shes our shinning star, and we know that God will use her to change the world. God's hand has protected her and will continue to carry her through and out.
