Michelle Chandler is an accomplished award winning songwriter and compelling performer.

The Free Press wrote "Michelle Chandler's ability in song composition and her velvety voice made for breath-taking entertainment. It was the best original music I have heard in a long time." She is a skilled guitarist, gifted with a beautifully rich velvet voice and a seasoned performer, who demonstrates influences from folk and jazz to blues and country. Michelle paints unique pictures from keen observations of life around her. Having crafted some fine songs, comparisons are often being made to artists like Neil Finn, Shawn Colvin, Tracy Chapman, Janis Ian & Norah Jones.

Michelle has performed along side The Waifs, Sally Dastey, Kutcha Edwards, Women in Docs, Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter. Her performances at venues around town have included Music and Folk Clubs and Festivals where she has headlined and supported on occasion artists such as Janis Ian (USA), Patti Larkin (US), Bruce Cockburn (CAN), Paul Kelly, Vika and Linda, Deborah Conway, Mark Seymour, Ross Wilson, Stephen Cummings, Coco's Lunch, Andy Cowan, Dave Steel, Tiffany Eckhardt, Matt Walker and Broderick Smith. Michelle has also shared the stage and performed with artists, Kristina Olsen (US), Chris While & Julie Mathews (UK) and Gilly Darbey (UK). Together with her band 'the handful', she played at the 2004 Port Fairy Folk Festival to packed houses with similar reviews stating : "Michelle Chandler & her band 'the handful' were the best original band I heard at this year's Port Fairy Folk Festival. Great songs, great music & so much energy. Very uplifting!"....

Following those performances, they recorded and released an 11 track CD 'Here & Now' in October 2004 and in response to popular demand, Michelle Chandler & 'the handful' featuring Multi-Instrumentalist Sigi Gabrie, Max McIntosh on Bass, Mandolin & Vocals, Nick Carrafa on Drums, Percussion & Vocals and on occasion, Denise Smith on Vocals & Percussion, continues to perform at music festivals and venues throughout Australia where her shows leave audiences wanting more.

Michelle wrote or co-wrote all of the material on Girls 2's debut CD 'Waking', released in '98 and followed with her critically acclaimed solo CD 'Inside Out' in '99. She released her 5th CD 'Mohana' in the UK having recently returned from her first and very successful tour. At this stage 'Mohana' is only available online through cdbaby.com or at gigs. Michelle is already planning her UK return in 2010.

Hello blossom,
We ARE finally seeing some sun - still not warm enough for t-shirts though. We've been watching the QLD floods on the news here - one extreme to the other - bushfire-drought-flood. People here grumble and moan about the weather - they don't know how easy the weather is to live with here - it does get cold and miserable, but there aren't the huge extremes that you get in Oz. (Although we did have those nasty summer floods a couple of years ago...)
Autumn in the Dandenongs was always my favourite month - cold, crisp nip in the air, hot soup and crusty bread, glorious burnished leaves of fiery colours, amongst the evergreen ferns and sage-grey-blues of the gums.
How's the music going? Have you been performing?
I absolutely ADORE my quilt!!
Lots and lots of love,
Beck xxx
