I love listening to different types of music, but it has to be uplifting;
I have always loved Mariah's voice, and Beyonce
Janet Jackson !!! Number 1 dance influence; at 9 yrs old, for a School talent show, I learnt the 'Pleasure principle' dance routine including the chair roll! , right now I am taking lessons in 'Bharatanatyam'
Classical composers Mozart, Beethoven; why I play piano and violin :-). My first instrument was the recorder! It worked the lungs ! Listen for the wind instrument in ' Oooh la, la, la',
Sounds Like
Glamorous Life (Daffodl). Michelle O Faith answers your questions.
First of all, whom would you say you sound like?
I guess I can not say, 'myself', because it's all been done before:- So I will not try to re-invent the wheel...:-
...but, Michelle O Faith is about sounding good, singing with enough soul ,emotion, to entertain and reach out to you. My sound is about me having fun myself then hopefully you will be feeling the same way too=)
So what is Glamorous Life (Daffodil), all about?
I composed the song in A minor and I talk about dreams…so it has that bittersweet nostalgic quality that you get with an ‘A’ minor composition. That chord is always guaranteed to stir the heart of the listener. It is a song that reflects teenage life. Being a teenager is about fun but there is a lot of wishing, future desires are often expressed in dreams. So Glamorous Life (Daffodil) is an ode to teenage dreams and wishes.
What should you expect, when you listen to Glamorous life (Daffodil)?
Expect it to make you dance; some might even shed a tear, but it is not a sad song. When I composed it, I wanted a song that was catchy with hooks on all levels - lyrical hooks, and instrumental harmonies. I sing from my heart, so I hope that connects me with the listener. I expect you to feel real and tangible passion coming through my voice, which I feel is getting more emotionally mature. Notice how although it is a light-hearted track which you can just dance to, at the same time, you could just get all emotional and a bit overwhelmed by the underlying bitter-sweetness, by the nostalgia. That is 'soulfullness', and it is all good after all wishing is always about something that you do not have.
What kind of person should Glamorous Life (Daffodil) should appeal to?
It should appeal especially to 13 – 19 year old teenagers, especially the girls who will be experiencing life's changes on the same level as I am. Also the pre-teens 10, 11, 12 year who being even more bubblier, could focus on the only the fun side of the song, ‘Glamorous, Glamorous..’ In fact any young person can identify with Glamorous Life (Daffodil), it is about that period of self-discovery and independence. It should also appeal to people a bit older, remind them of their quest for personal fulfillment. It is a light hearted song about wanting the best out of life.
As far back as 2006 when I was 14, I have been on the record with a new description, ‘genre’, ‘Pop & B(e). What do I mean?
It is how refer to my musical style, as Pop & B. It is a style that evolved from a vision I have held for some time, of what my music should sound and feel like, sort of ' a new genre'. I termed it 'Pop & B(e),' or simply 'Pop $ B'. What 'Pop $ B' means, as you have probably already deciphered, is a sound that is a cross between Pop and R&B. It has the catchy melodic riffs and lyrical quotes of Pop, but also has the vocal dynamism and lyrical depth of R&B. There is an element of rock, as I tend to compose the music first before I write the lyrics and sing the verse, and in the background you can detect instruments, keeping the music real. Just remember, Pop & B , you heard it from me first!
How long have I been into music? When did I acquire my many skills?
I have been into music for literally as long as I can remember. My mum loves music so for as long as I can remember, we have had an extensive collection consisting of many genres. From classical to Pop, and of different languages.
I am the kind of person who is not just content to sit back and rely only on ones potential, I combine my natural instinct and curiosity about music, and about all other things that interest me with a willingness to learn more.
I’ve been singing since I was 3 years old. Apart from being a member of the Gospel Choir at School, I am about Grade 7 in Classical Voice. I have been learning the piano since I was 9 and I took up the violin when I was 8 but stopped 2 years ago. My passion for dance and acting also enhance my creativity. I have taken classes in ballet, street and Jazz, and currently am about grade 3 in classical Indian dance. I played young Nala for 7 months in Disney's Lion King at the Lyceum theatre in London's West End.
What do I focus on while writting, composing?
All of my friends are teenagers and most of my supporters are young people like me who prefer to listen to some thing original, to music that feels 'real' , with quality; good structure, melody and harmony. Young people nowdays are really sophiscated, so I keep that in mind when writting lyrics or composing music. Playing an instrument or two enables me to arrange and produce my own tracks, allowing me focus on me being me, to create a sound that indentifies me.
Anything else you care to add?
First of all, I write, compose, arrange and produce my songs by myself – and have been doing so since I was 12. My 1st song, If You Feel Me, which I finished when I was 13, won the first prize in 2006 in the Urban Category of the National song writing contest held by Yamaha and LIPA.
Secondly, I like the fact that I am in a Gospel choir that often performs to raise awareness about good causes such as HIV aids, poverty, oppression etc. So I am a passionate artist but I try to maintain a balance. My 'A' level subjects include Math and Biology, History, Drama. I am the kind of person who is not just content to sit back, or to rely only on ones potential. I combine my natural instinct and curiosity about music, and about all other things that interest me with a willingness to learn more.
Finally, the 'final' release date for Glamorous Life (Daffodil) has concided with the day I joined MySpace, the 2nd November. So it is my 2nd anniversary on MySpace and I would like to thank those who have supported me since, I need that support now more than ever.

Broken Hearted Melody (Ivy) is released on 15 December 2008 hot on the heels of, Michelle O Faith's debut, Glamorous life (Daffodil), which was released 2nd November 2008. Once again it demonstrates Michelle O Faiths's many skills as an artist, and at only sixteen years old. She is as in her debut, the only Vocalist, Lyricist, Composer, arranger, producer and programmer
Broken Hearted Melody (Ivy), the single-bundle, includes a 'poem', Broken Hearted Poem (Cactus) an incisive intro which relies on Michelle O Faith's love of verse and prose to deliver a heart-wrenching love poem set to piano music. This appropiate somber opening leads to the main song, in a manner of a river flowing into a river, effortlessly. In the end, an instrumental which is music without the words, and it lays bare the core rich depth of the instrumental melody, whose fullness the listener would have otherwise would have been robbed of. The three 'parts' can be listened to and enjoyed as independent songs, but are really best combined into one session of enjoyment, like a three course meal; an appetiser, main dish and dessert.
It is all a passionate and poignant rendition, bringing a sweet tenderness to the tears that reflect love's two sides without overwhelming with despair. The lyrics reflect a state of mind that is sad but positive, exposing the dissappointment in love yet focusing on an outcome that is still strong, dignified and positive.
Michelle O Faith is a sweet sixteen, it is only befitting that Broken Hearted Melody (Ivy) is an empowering reality check, the bitter-sweet in sweet sixteen.
As is becoming her trade mark, the song is layered, catchy, melodious with balanced well constructed harmonies with hints of the orchestral in effort.
You should be humming the melody line, half way your first listen. You should then become addicted to its liberating intent not long after, if none of it happens to you, you ought to re-difine your apprciation of R n B of soulful music..
Broken Hearted Melody (Ivy), is a genuine timeless composition...
....which should ring true across gender, age groups.
When did you last hear of a 16yr old vocalist, lyricist,
composer, arranger and producer in the UK pop scene,
any pop scene for that matter?
Meet Michelle O Faith.

on the record with a description of how I am expressing myself musically, kind of a new 'genre'..
‘Pop & B(e).
What exactly, do I mean by Pop & B?
It is how refer to my musical style, as Pop & B. It is a style that evolved from a vision I have held for some time, of what my music should sound and feel like, sort of ' a new genre'. I won the 2006 Yamaha and LIPA national songwritting Contest, Make IT or Break It. I was the youngest ever winner, most likely still I am, at just 14 yrs 24 days old, I performed at THE Prize giving Gala in Liverpool on April 9th 2006.
and here it ...is me performing that night when I received the prize for 1st place in the Urban Category for 14 - 16 yr olds. Any how it is a treat because the live show was to be put on TV but having waited for 2 and 1/2 yrs and it seems the deal fell through, I have decided to post the video here through youtube. Lucky we took our own camera. =D. So here is my first ever song as a singer, songwriter (lyricist and composer), as arranger and budding producer, If You Feel Me (Crocus);
