Literature, good food and cooking, shopping and shoes, concerts, plays and operas, reality t.v., and camping, rafting, and outdoorsy stuff--but only with my husband.
Music
Anything really, however I'd say my top five are Jonny Lang, Van Morrison, Counting Crows, Matchbox Twenty/Rob Thomas, and Michael Jackson.
Movies
Oh, I love movies, too. Again, top five would be The Breakfast Club, The Graduate, Dead Poet's Society, When Harry Met Sally, and Love Actually. Mentionables include Empire Records and Napoleon Dynamite. Current favorite is Juno. LOVED IT! And I'll say Brick in there too (sometimes my students do know what they're talking about). I've got the Blockbuster on-line deal, so I watch way too many movies. And I don't even have to leave my house, which is nice because I'm lazy.
Television
Jeeze, the list is way too long. I was like addicted to t.v., until we realized that if we couldn't pay for heat, we probably couldn't pay for cable. But, I love reality t.v., the Office, My Name is Earl, Best Week Ever, The L Word, Weeds, and the Daily Show (when my pathetic self could stay up that late). Now I mostly watch the Discovery Channel and OPB. And of course, my very most favorite, SURVIVOR. Of course there's also the likes of Clifford, Curious George and Super Why.
Books
This list I think is longer than the t.v. one. My two ultimate faves are The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde, and Catch 22, by Joseph Heller. I've been reading all of Laurie Notaro's books, and I can't stop laughing at them. Carol Shields is good, as well. My stack is huge, but I'm working my way through it. My fav YA novel is Speak--it is the frickin' best book. Seriously, you should read it and be reminded of what hell high school is, and what incredibly mean people we can sometimes be, and that despite this, we can overcome it all (especially with the help of those wonderful folks we call teachers) and be good people. It's amazing. You will not be able to put it down.
Just read The Road, couldn't put it down. And read Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist the other night (yes, all in one night). Excellent YA reading.
Heroes
My parents. My husband. Oscar Wilde. Kurt Vonnegut. Oprah (yes, I do love Oprah).

Hey all . . .
'Nother Update....I live in NE Portland with my husband, very cute son, and fluffy black cat. I spend my time reading, hanging out at the nearby park, camping, or watching Survivor and Discovery Channel (too poor for real cable, so don't talk to me about my much-missed VH1 reality trash tv). I also live within a five mile radius of my parents and all four siblings, so they come into play a lot as well.
When I'm not with the fam, I'm out in Sandy teaching high school English and lovin' it.
Who I'd like to meet: Oscar Wilde, the late great Kurt Vonnegut--although I have seen him give a lecture-- Rob Thomas, and Brittney Spears, so I can punch her in the face.
--so I just realized this meant like, who do I want to meet here. I don't know. People I lost touch with, I guess. Who cares?
Thanks. U look good and the same. Lucky! Life is good but busy. I'm going back to school to finish my degree while being a single mother. So my plate is always full and sometimes spilling over. LOL How's things with u? I see u have a little one. Too cute. Well take care and god bless. Nice to see u are doing good. Keep in touch.
Happy New Year to you too. Things are going. I start school again on Monday, and when this semester is done, I'm going to Italy (with the parents). How are things?
Loved ur tagged pics! Clem and the fam was soooooo cute. Im so glad you had time to go sledding, Clem looked a lil unsure, but you all looked like an amazing fam shot!!!! Luv u all!
Cole had a gr8 time. We had a gr8 christnas and a gr8 new year. I made some crazy love choices, but luckily he's young and can roll with it. I will fill you in soon. Happy 2009. You and your family deserve the BEST!
Hi Michelle and Clem, I loved getting your message on the phone, nothing is better than hearing from you and Clem. Hope the weekend is great. The guys will be tired but boy, so am I. Glad Friday is here. Love you both, Sandy
Thanks yeah I wish I had gone but I've been sick lately and didn't feel up to doing much, but I saw the pictures and it looked like everyone had a great time. How's everything going for you?
I'm not sure I'll be able to make it. I am supposed to be out of town. But my plans may change and I'll let you know when the dates get closer. I hope it all works out!
I've only been able to catch one complete episode so far, so I really haven't had a chance to really get to know most of the characters, but I'm very pleased that it's in a non-tropical location this season. It's very refreshing, and China was an excellent choice. Is it just me, or do some of the challenges seem much more physical or violent this time around?
I wasn't really sure what to think about the female wrestler getting voted off, but already there are a handful of people I don't like...namely that incredibly lazy guy in the one tribe, I forget his name.
Looks to be a fun season though! On another note, I hope that you and your family are doing well, and you have my best wishes for the new school year. May everything go smoothly, and I hope to hear from you again soon! :)
Btw, they weren't able to track me down for the reunion. ^___^
