Michèle Toro, a.k.a. “Michiewah”, is a New York City-based freelance writer and consultant, and founder of Mishu Media. An Afro-Caribbean Nuyorican raised in the East Bronx, Michèle provides promotional and editorial consulting services. Her aim is to keep Mishu Media as a “boutique” venture, building a small yet strong group of clientele, taking a more personal interest in the development of their projects. As the former Associate Editor of Mía Magazine, a Latino lifestyle publication, Michèle has written various reviews on nightlife, music and literary publications, as well as featured articles and poetry. She has also collaborated with Sonny Sofrito, an event planner and promoter from Spanish Harlem, on the development of party venues catering to upscale Latino New Yorkers for more than a decade. To date, Michèle has partnered with DJ Eman and DJ Spider to promote INDIGO and has co-hosted La India’s 2006 Halloween Masquerade Ball featuring guest DJ Louie Vega. Other collaborations include DJ/Producer Mr. Cubanix, DJ Markus Rice, KhaiMar Music, Rawcast Radio 920, Blacktino.net, and the monthly underground house music party EVOLVE NYC. She is committed to bringing forth the beauty of the arts in all forms, and to sharing in its collaborative force an accessible medium to be appreciated by people of all cultures.
