  • General

I like listening to live music, writing depressing poetry, playing my accordion badly, making short films, buying stuff I don't need on ebay, eating good food, a nice cold beer or a glass of wine on a balmy afternoon (or really at any time), going to the beach with my nephews, running, swimming, and riding my bike on a sunny afternoon. Also, did I mention we are making another short film? Well, we are. Here are some production stills from our spooky short Faithful Departed: ..

I like a little bit of everything as long as it's good and it has actual lyrics. Since when does repeating the same line over and over make you a songwriter? My standbys are Cafe Tacuba, Ozomatli, El Gran Silencio, Juan Gabriel and Anna Gabriel. I also like conjunto, tejano, rock en espanol, alternative rock, folk, old style country, and I just recently started listening to some blues.
  • Movies

I don't seem to make it out the movies much, but lately I have seen quite a few that I really like, like Pan's Labryinth, Children of Men, The Departed, and my current most favorite of all Volver. Everytime I think about it I chuckle, because the car trunk sceen cracks me up! Here is the first one I ever made with lots of help from my friends. The Pilgrimage

Can't miss the daily show and the Colbert Report! Other than that I never turn it on, but here is something funny.

The Writer Got Screwed (but didn't have to) by Brooke Wharton, The Writer's Guide to Screenwriting, Veronica Decides to Die and Malinche's Conquest.

My mom and my sister. If aliens landed on earth my mom could establish communication in five minutes in ten she could set up trade at 150% profit to earth. And if the aliens decided to give us any trouble my sister could totally kick their ass!

About me:

Faithful Departed
In 2005, I entered the FilmGenesis script to film contest (http://www.filmgenesis.com)with my short script called El Ride. In early 2006, I found out that I was selected as the winner of the contest and FilmGenesis flew me out to LA, and I got to direct my short. There is lots more info on the FilmGenesis myspace page. Our little film screened at the 2007 Cine Las Americas (http://www.cinelasamericas.org/festival.html; at the 2007 Austin Woman's Film Festival (http://www.blowinupaspot.com/), where we were selected as Best of the Fest; at the 2007 San Antonio Underground Film Festival; 2007 Dances With Films in LA; the 2007 San Diego Women's Film Festival; the 2007 Avalon Micro Film Festival in New York; and the 2009 Luminaria in San Antonio. We are currently in the process of editing a new "spooky" short called Faithful Departed which we plan to submit to the Fall 09 festivals.

Who I'd like to meet:

It would have been cool to meet Issac Asimov, but it's too late for that unless I hire a good medium. Among the living I would still like to meet Anne McCaffery, and other writers and filmmakers.
