Reviews
"Elements of twee, filtered mainstream pop and Dylan–esque brood ebb and flow through the tracks, creating an incisive listen, one that like all good albums, reveals more with each listen." — View Magazine (Hamilton)
"Michou approaches music with a passion and a sincerity that is equally infectious. If they don't make it, it's because you didn't get it. Simple as that." — Jamie Greer, The Windsor Scene
"The songwriting here is wonderful, with melodies so prettily poignant that they hurt. Singer Michael Hargreaves has a voice so clear, so sweet and earnest, that even a hard-hearted jerk like me can't help but smile." — Windsor Star
" Indie or folk, this or that, it doesn’t matter. You will like Michou anyway." — Pulse Magazine (St. Catharines)
"The feeling I got the first time I listened to [Michou] was one that was similar to the feeling I get when I listen to the Postal Service or even Radiohead, something that sounds icy cool but at the same time very warm.. " — Phat Matt
"The desire to be sincere may factor in on why Michou recorded sounds just like Michou live...The band operates very much on a “what you see is what you get” basis." — The Lance
"'Myshkin' will often remind the listener of a songwriter like Elliot Smith, which becomes clearer and is appreciated through repeated listening." — Paul Hoffman WAMM MAGAZINE
Michou's Myshkin is the follow up album to their Medea EP. This Album was released on June 5th 2008.
THE BAND: Michou is a five piece erie/pop/folk group that focuses on simple textures, and dramatic presentation. By listening to honest independent artists, Michou found solace in knowing others saw the world as explicitly as them. Although Michou has only been performing as a group since September 2007, all members have been individually performing for many years. The musics dynamic lies distinctly in the diversity of instrumentation. From slide whistles to stomping, Michou strives for a sort of audio gymnastic, which creates entertaining hurtles for the members and listeners. The group usually performs like a drunk circus, desperately engaging the listeners who seemingly have more rhythm and class. Friendships and FUN! are the main goals for Michou; achieved through a sloppy musical endeavour, a good pint, and a rough morning after.
THE NEW ALBUM: Myshkin (2008) Michou's coming LP is a collection of nine songs. This is our best description of Myshkin:
Dostoyevsky’s protagonist in The Idiot represents his effort at describing the ideal man, Myshkin, whose simple caring and honest nature are in direct contradiction to a society consumed by materialism and selfishness. Myshkin’s perfect, Christ-like nature ends in idiocy and suffering as his world crumbles in the wake of his own innocence and the rotten nature of those around him. To us, Myshkin represents the simplicity and honesty conveyed through our music as well as our naive goal to make it in this industry, but more specifically in a world we know little about.
The album was recorded in February 2008, by Joel Bruyere.
THE ALBUM:Medea (2007) Michou's latest ep, is a collection of five tales that touch upon death, love, child crusades and the reality of an undergraduate university program. The album was recorded in October 2007, by Joel Bruyere. The record stands as a snap shot of what Michou is all about: an incredibly simple, yet considered musical project.

Yea, Which was very smart of her. It was worth it though even though we didn't have money to cross back into Michigan like my friend said. Luckily we made friends with The Tragedy of Mariam and they loaned us some money. So buying your CD kind of got me in trouble. But with all of that aside it was one of my better trips to Canada.
And I have definitely had some better days...how about yourself?
sasha, ahaha. gosh. i bet you guys left a nice impression on the detriot coach. well, nothings new with me. but i don't know why but my favorite michou song is still "the anti hero makes his way" the part thats like "and if you die it'll be the very day that i die too"
