Mich Sampson is a lively folk-acoustic performer from London's East End, wooing her audience with warm vocals and a deft touch on the piano. Guest of honour at Georgia's GAFilk music convention in 2004, the organisers described her as "a breath of fresh air, talent, and timing."
Mich released her debut studio album Just Beyond in February 2006 in memory of her parents, and from which half of the profit has been donated to Cancer Research UK. After five successful years performing in her home music community, Mich is now looking to play to new venues and audiences.
Mich's unique style - Tori Amos meets Joni Mitchell with a splash of spirituality - is shaped by twenty years of piano-playing, a love of Jewish music and fantasy literature, and working with other eclectic artists such as Talis Kimberley, who described herself as "utterly transported" by Mich's playing.
In the filk music community, Mich was shortlisted for the 2003 Best Performer award which honours songwriters and performers from the US, Canada, Germany and UK. In addition to appearing as guest of honour in Atlanta, Mich was also guest and headline act at the British Filk Convention in 2006. Her songs are frequently nominated for filk awards, and two award-winning songs are included on her CD.
Samples of Mich's music can be found on her website,
iTunes, and MySpace, and her CD can be purchased online from CDBaby. Mich is available for gigs, events (including charity concerts) and private functions. Mich also performs as part of the duo Playing Rapunzel.
