Mick and Steve formed Under The Influence in 1997, after a recording session where the engineer noted that most of Steve's songs had a link with drink. They have been performing together ever since, combining Steve's great original songs with an eclectic selection of covers.
They've had a rest from regular gigging fro the last 12 months or so, but are raring to get out there again.
“For us it’s all about ‘the groove’. Whether we’re playing a pop classic from the 70’s and 80’s, a smooth jazz standard from the 30s and 40’s, or an authentic blues from the 50’s and 60’s, our aim is always to make it ‘feel’ right.
Technical perfection is a worthy aim, but without ‘the groove’ it just ain’t happening.
If you come to an Under the Influence gig, you’ll hear plenty of songs you’ll know, and even the ones you don’t know will seem familiar because they just ‘feel’ right, and that’ll include many of Steve’s original songs, that draw you close and hold you closer with the warmth that is the signature of the man.
Come and see us sometime – we promise that you’ll leave with a smile on your face”
