  • Bio

Mickey Harte has always been moulding and chiselling away as a very competent singer and songwriter, he first cut his music teeth at the early age of thirteen and dedication has certainly been his backbone. His sound is very acoustic pop/rock with a contempory folk element to it. His music influences started early in life as himself and siblings were always encouraged to participate in family gatherings. He grew up listening to a wide range of music from Glen Miller Orchestra to AC/DC, Christy Moore, The Police etc. As a child he was always encouraged by family and friends to express his passion for music. It came really as no surprise that not only the public and the judges selected Mickey as overall winner on Eurostar , a programme on R.T.E. the Irish broadcast and he was selected to represent Ireland in the Eurovision song contest with the song Known as we've got the world became instantly recognisable with him, however although a catchy eurovision number I think somehow he would have really loved to sing one of his own , from which there are so many. Although in saying this it was a major stepping stone into the world of music, and he believes that all in all Your A Star was a very positive experience in his life. He Lived and He's Learned. He made the desicion to leave Sony Records some time after Your A Star, and simultaneously set up his own label 'Swerve' . Although Your A Star and Sony put him in a stronger place creatively and musically, he wanted to show the world that he was a singer/songwriter first and a winner on a t.v talent show second and he is now delighted with the his songs and music and directions they are taking and going. After his stint on television Mickey had an amazing time travelling Ireland and abroad extensivelyand he also finished his second album. Nowadays he does a variety of gigs - sometimes solo, sometimes as a duo and sometimes as a band. His band consists of three Dublin based musicians - Paul Daly: Guitar & Vocals, Elton Mulally: Bass and Aiden O'Grady: Drums. Mickey thoroughly enjoys playing in the band as with any group of lads theres always some craic and fun aswell as the hard work they all put in to the fantastic sound he produces. he has fond memories of people he has previously worked with before on his music who are today still good friends of his, ie - multiinstrumentalist and co-producer of 'Live & Learn' Rory Gallagher (of 'Revs' fame), drummer Gary Porter, bass & studio owner Terry McGinty, pianist Finnian Drumm and to many more to date. He finds when writing a song they don't always sound like the one before....so he is not boxed into one particular genre or sound. A contributing factor to this is the fact he has been working with other songwriters and has had some songs used on other albums and projects which for Mickey is immensely satisfying and influential in his work. Some people he has recently been working with include - Rob Burke, Jack Tempsin (U.S.A. who wrote material for world wide sensations 'The Eagles'), Kieran Goss, Oliver Darly (U.K.), JZ London PopWriters and Billy Farrell ( who has worked with the Corrs, Westlife etc.) At the moment he is not sure what his future holds but from his position at this moment in time and his abilities, passion and hunger for music, he's embarking on a very bright and promising career. His immediate plan is to tour a little more promoting his current album 'Live & Learn' and before the end of 2007 to start recording a new album for which he has written a lot more new material. his ambition is to bring his songs and music to as many countries as possible and touch the lives of people with his words and sound which is looking increasingly possible with the great support and help from his management John & Sharon Kenny at ETAK Promotions who look after all things for him here in the Irish market and the newest addition to the clan Steve Garvan in the USA. ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ................ ......Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net...... .. .. .. .. ..

Mickey’s musical interests and abilities started early in life where himself and his siblings were always encouraged to participate in family get togethers ie: weddings, anniversaries, christenings, birthdays, and of course the occasional wake of a funeral. basically any excuse to erform was taken by Mickey. although his siblings took part in these performances, it was young Mickey who showed the passion and interest in the world of music. He has always received utmost ssupport and and encouragement from friends, family and his local community around his hometown of Lifford alike. Some of his first gigs were held in the local establishments - bars, clubs, community centres, etc. Growing up he was surrounded by a wide range and variety of music which has contributed widely to his own style of music. His late father was an avid Glenn Millar Orchestra fan and his brother and sister always had the record player exhuming many different beats and sounds, ie: AC/DC, U2, The Police and Christy Moore to name but a few. there was always a variety of tastes flowing through the Harte household on a daily basis. ................Mickey Harte....http://mickeyjoeharte.bebo.com/......
