My influences, chronological order are as such; The Monkees, Elton, Springsteen, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, James Brown and Otis Redding. When you hear me sing, I'm sure you hear a piece of all of these singers.
All of my CD's have very distinctive characters. None of them sound the same to me. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, it just is. My latest project, BETWEEN SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING is something I'm very proud of. My first book THE LONG RIDE HOME has received some nice response and I was proud to be able to write it. All of my records stem from the hundreds of records I bought as a kid. I'm fortunate to be able to still be performing and playing with great musicians.

I am a very lucky man. For the past two decades, I have performed on stages with some of the best musicians in the Twin Cities. I have played in clubs, street festivals, blues festivals, showcases and other venues around the country. I have written and recorded 7 original CD's and performed thousands of gigs.
Currently, my musical landscape is quite large. The Mick Sterling Band features 3 terrific musicians, Lisi Wright on Fiddle, John Wright on Bass and Acoustic Guitar and Brad McLemore on Guitar. We perform a lot of my original material, as well as songs from Springsteen, Morrison, Hiatt, Cash, Jones, Costello and many others.
In 2007, I created a band called MEMPHIS AND THE MEANTIMES, a 9-piece band that performs Sun Records and Grand Ole Opry songs, along with songs by Johnny Rivers, Everly Brothers and many others. This band features the spectacular Dan Neale on guitar, Peter Guertin on Piano, Jeremy Johnson on Acoustic Guitar, Lisa Wenger and Bobby Vandell on vocals, John Wright on Bass and Mark O'Day on Drums. In 2008, my newest project THE IRRESISTIBLES begins. This band is a 9-piece Retro-Soul and R&B band that is quite simply, irresistible. It features the killer band of TOBY LEE AND THE HD'S as the band, Gus Sandberg on Sax and Zack Lozier on Trumpet. Along with my own vocals, I am sharing the stage with two new fresh faces, Cate Fierro and Shalo Lee.
I am also looking forward to the reunion show of the band that gave me any kind of name in town, MICK STERLING AND THE STUD BROTHERS on December, 20th, 2008. I know this band had an emotional impact on thousands of people in the Twin Cities. We look forward to getting together again for this show.
These bands are currently performing in clubs and private events. This is also a terrific band for corporate events.
I am currently producing events, booking bands and serving as a vocal gunslinger when called upon for different projects that require my vocals.
After two decades of performing, I'm still stimulated and very grateful for the opportunity to perform and that people still want to hear me sing.
