With a a voice as smooth as silk, it didn't take long for the preteen singer Mic Little to go from singing in the church choir and at talent shows to auditioning for L.A. Reid and Jay-Z which resulted in him being offered a recording contract on the spot with Def Jam, making him the youngest artist ever to sign to them. He still holds that title to this day! Fellow Def Jam artist Ne-Yo appeared on Mic Little's debut single, "Put It in a Letter," from his self-titled debut album “Mic Little” which landed at the end of summer 2006.
Mic Little was born and raised in the heart of South Central Los Angeles, and his parents made every effort they could to keep their son out of trouble. With the likes of Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band and gospel great Daryl Cooley in his family tree, and his father being a Jazz musician, Mic was surrounded by musical inspirations, therefore music seemed the only way to go. This energetic youngster has been wowing audiences all over the southern region with his sultry vocals and creative performances, and still Mic says that he wants more. “I'm using my music as therapy for myself as well as others who can relate with what I'm singing about. I love my life and all that I've learned from it, so now I can share it with others and have some kind of positive impact on today‘s youth,” he says. That seems to be his biggest focus; bringing a light to an industry that isn’t always that positive.
Over the past few years, Mic Little has been honing in on his writing skills, even producing a few of his own songs “for fun”. He is also an accomplished drummer, and has undergone classical and jazz piano training, which ultimately expanded his overall view, love and respect of music. With his humble, charismatic personality on and off stage, his creative young mind, his strong vocals, and his undying will to succeed, Mic's future is very bright, indeed.
