About me:

Find us on Facebook and Twitter as well!

Microcosm Publishing is an independent publisher and distributor based in Bloomington, IN and Portland, OR. We distribute ideas through zines, books, pamphlets, stickers, buttons, patches, t-shirts, films, and more, as well as manufacture custom 1" buttons and vinyl stickers. We focus on publishing zines and books in the hopes that it will add credibility to zine writers and their ethics. Our titles attempt to teach self-empowerment to disenfranchised people and to nurture their creative side. We began in 1996 with one person doing part-time mailorder out of a bedroom.

A COUPLE NEW TITLES!

MAKE YOUR PLACE BY RALEIGH BRIGGS OUT NOW!! Raleigh Briggs teaches us how to craft a sustainable domestic life outside of consumer consciousness. And it's not as hard as we may think! This hand-drawn book of charming tutorials is both fun and accessible. It's full of simple skills that anyone can and should learn. From creating tinctures and salves, to concocting all-natural cleaners, to gardening basics, this book is great for anyone looking to live more simply and truly do it themselves. BUY WITH PAYPAL, CREDIT, DEBIT, CASH, OR CHECK RIGHT HERE.

IN SEARCH OF THE LOST TASTE A VEGAN COOKBOOK BY JOSHUA PLOEG OUT NOW! Joshua's the Traveling Chef; you make an appointment, he shows up at your house with a load of groceries, makes an incredible multi-course vegan meal using your pots and pans, and then he's gone like the Lone Ranger riding into a big Texas sunset. Joshua's been in a bunch of hardcore bands and he brings all the good things punk rock gave us: risk, passion, creativity, and weirdness; then he applies them to his meals. I randomly lucked into one of his dinners last year. I usually eat really fast and mindlessly, but I had to take this one slow and let all the flavors develop and do their respective stuff. Each had its own distinctive note its own voice that rang out to let it be known that it was something special and unique. It was an experience in the finest sense of the word. ORDER WITH PAYPAL, DEBIT, CREDIT, CASH, CHECKS....

Who I'd like to meet:

Rad folks that read zines and books, sew patches, pin pins, wear t-shirts, ride bikes, hang posters, and cook food.

    Press Release:

Affecting CHANGE can be a daunting task. Affecting GLOBAL change? Try HERCULEAN. Still, with an issue as big as GLOBAL WARMING, it's going to take an equally enormous effort to make change. One organization is doing just that. It's 350.ORG, the international CLIMATE CHANGE campaign. Partnering with individuals and groups around the world, 350.ORG is changing the way we look at our changing climate. Already, 350.ORG has impacted environmental legislation in America, inspiring politicians to cut carbon 80% by 2050. On October 24th, 2009, 350 goes worldwide.

In coordination with 350's international day of action, ADITA.ORG releases "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT". This compilation consists of a wide variety of artists from around Chicago, the midwest, and beyond. "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT" benefits 350.ORG, with promotion of the October 24th day of action, and monetarily with each sale. ADITA.ORG is the digital home of A DAY IN THE AIR, a personal zine written by Bradley Adita. "C350: MUSIC FOR A MOVEMENT" is A Day In The Air #24 and the 4th CD to be released since 2000. "Iowahardcore.com(pilation)" was released in 2003.

Ten Songs Podcast#8- punk/hc "radio show"

Ten Songs Podcast is a DIY "radio show" that you can download as a MP3, stream and subscribe to for free at http://tensongspodcast.blogspot.com

#8 is Augusts show. Right now, I'm hoping the rain will finally stop for a decent amount of time and we can actually have a summer but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. Oh well. Anyhow, I picked up the latest issue of Cometbus and with it the Pinhead Gunpowder best of. So this month I'm playing a set of Aaron Cometbus related bands (Pinhead Gunpowder, Astrid Oto, The Blank Fight, Colbom) to soundtrack those cancelled camping trips and rained off hikes. The other bands I'm playing this out are The Ergs!, Criminal Damage, Have Heart, Undertow, No Substance and Spoonboy.
