Banda formada en 1993 por Juan Soto (Batería) y Marvin Mendoza (Guitarra) posteriormente se integraron Manuel Chavez (vocales), Héctor Humphrey (bajo) y Raúl Soto (instrumentos mexicanos). La banda combina el sonido del death metal progresivo con instrumentos antiguos como el palo de lluvia, ocarinas, teponaxtle, etc. y esto les ha ganado el apelativo de "Los creadores del Death Metal Prehispánico" (actualmente Etno Death Metal). Las líricas de la banda en su primer disco "Donde habitan los muertos" (1996)son principalmente mitología y existencialismo Mexica. Los títulos de las canciones del primer disco son Panoramas de Mictlan, La leyenda de Coyolxauqui, Guerrero por Convicción, El Quinto Sol, Gukumatz, Ome, Estado Consciente después de la Muerte y Autosacrificio. El segundo álbum, Ce Miquiztli "Uno Muerte" (1999 TOAJ Records) contiene líricas de repudio a las formas sociales vacías y filosofía guerrera bajo los siguientes títulos Ce Miquiztli, Con tu llegada (invasor), Gracias adiós, Serpiente Celeste, Flores de Guerra, Su Verdad, No busques (aquí es) y Guerra Florida. La banda se ha presentado practicamente en todos los foros del Distrito Federal y algunas cuidades del interior de la República y también ha participado en películas como "Fronterilandia" (Rubén Ortiz, Jesee Lerner) ganando premios en Japón, E. U. México y sud América. Luego de un periodo de inactividad de 7 años (después de grabar el segundo álbum) el Mictlan se reúne para seguir haciendo metal de su propia creación y estilo. .. ............Myspace Layouts.. - ..Myspace Editor.. - ..Image Hosting.... .... .. .. .. .. .......... Band formed in 1993 by Juan Soto (Drums) and Marvin Mendoza (Guitar), later on Manuel Chávez (vocals), Héctor Humphrey (bass) and Raúl Soto (Archetypical instruments) joined in. Mictlan combines the sound of progressive death metal with ancient instruments like the rain stick, clay flutes, teponaxtle, etc. therefore they´ve been addressed as “The creators of Prehispanic Death Metal” (Etno Death Metal). The lyrics of the band in its first album “Where the dead abide” are mainly mythology and Mexica existencialism. The song titles for the first album are: Views from Mictlan, Coyolxauqui´s legend, Warrior by determination, The fifth Sun, Gukumatz, Ome, After-death conscious state and Self sacrifice. The second album “Ce Miquiztli” “One Death” (1999 TOAJ Records) contains explicit lyrics of rejection to empty social costumes and also sheer Warrior Philosophy under the following titles: Ce Miquiztli, With your arrival (Invader), Thanks bye, Celestial Serpent, Flowers of War, Their truth, No longer seek (here is it), and Flowerly War. Mictlan has stepped up practically on every metal stage in Mexico City and some other states in the country of Mexico, as well it has participated in the movie “Fronterilandia” (Rubén Ortiz, Jesee Lerner) winning awards in Japan, the U. S. A., Mexico and South America. After a period of inactivity of 7 years (following the release of the second album) the Mictlan members get together again to keep making music of their own design and style. .... .. .. .. .. ......................

Influences
Las influencias musicales del Mictlán son tremendamente variadas, desde Elvis Presley y los Beatles hasta Morbid Angel y Cannibal Corpse pasando por toda la gama de grupos rockeros y metaleros de las décadas de los 70..s, 80..s y 90..s. También hemos tenido influencias de otros géneros musicales como el jazz, el new age, la mal llamada música prehispánica, el mariachi, el disco, la banda, el rock and roll, blues, world music, clásica, etc. son demasiados grupos como para hacer una lista aceptable que quepa en esta página... ¡nuestro vicio es la música y no un género musical! Las influencias ideológicas de la banda se han nutrido de información documental con autores como el Dr. Ignacio Romerovargas Iturbide, el Dr. Juan Luna Cárdenas, Díaz Bolio, Carlos Jesús Castillejos, Swami Prabhupada, Yogananda, Lobsang Rampa, Madame Blavatski, Gurdjeff, Pedro Ouspenski, Reekjanesh, Carlos Castaneda, Maharaji, Domingo Martinez Paredes e incontables escritores brillantes de todo el mundo. La información de campo la hemos recolectado en vivencias demasiado simples como para enlistar personas y lugares. No nos es posible congelar esos incontables momentos de aprendizaje en sitios de poder y experiencias individuales y colectivas impactantes y tampoco nos interesa ponerles fechas ni horas. Nuestra principal influencia ha sido nuestra intención de aprender. Our field information has been collected in simple facts which are difficult to list. It is not possible for us to freeze those countless moments of learning in power places or the impressive individual and collective experiences, we are not even interested in tagging them with dates and hours. Pensamos que nuestro sonido es bastante peculiar, como un metal multifacético, creemos que tocamos todos los estilos de metal, desde riffs de heavy metal clásico (No busques), riffs puramente thasheros (Autosacrificio), riffs grind (Flores de Guerra), riffs virtuosos (Guerrero por Convicción), progresión contínua (Estado consciente después de la Muerte), percusiones arquetípicas (introducciones). Se recomienda poner atención al trabajo de doble bombo y bajo. Obviamente las estructuras de los solos de guitarra también son de especial interés. Y si te gusta dejarte viajar pues házlo con las atmósferas arquetípicas instrumentales. Esto es lo que podrás encontrar en los discos del Mictlan. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... We believe our sound to be quite peculiar, like a multifacetic metal, we think we play all kind of metal from classic heavy metal (No longer seek), thrashy riffs (Self sacrifice), grind riffs (Flowers of War), virtuous riffs (Warrior by determination), continuous progression (After-death conscious state) archetypical percussions (song intros). Attention to the double bass – bass arrangement is recommended, the guitar solos are interesting too. And if you want to let yourself go, then trip with the instrumental archetypical atmospheres.
