Influences
Classic rock form 1950's to present.
Bands like: Beatles, Stones, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Angus Young, Crowded House, REM, Clapton, T Rex, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Slade, Doors, Genesis, Bad Co., Free, Deep Purple, Paul Carrack, Johnny Kidd, Bee Gees, Sweet, Hollies, Eagles, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Otis Redding, Kinks, Who, Rod, Dylan, Queen, Lizzy; in fact, a wide range of Classic Pop and Rock....the list goes on and on
As a band and individually we are still being influenced by younger bands & performers today, such as Snow Patrol, and are willing to incorporate their work into our shows where practicable.
Sounds Like
We are an experienced band, who perform many different songs, often in our own style, and like to think we do them justice because we know what we are good at. However, we can also incorporate material sugested to us for shows provided we get reasonable notice.
In the early 90's, an advert was placed in a trade paper looking for a bass player to join a drummer and guitarist; with the promise that work was already waiting. The vacancy was filled, and four years on the by now well established, but knackered, trio decided to part and go their own ways on the best of terms. This band was Shadrak!
In April 2007, they decided to reform and go out [with a drastically reduced calendar from the 'old days'] as "Midlife Krisis"; following an opportunity to get together for what was supposed to be a one-off show. From the initial, surprisinglty tight [bearing in mind the ten year lay-off] rehearsal, it was obvious that there was a lot more potential here than a one off swansong.
This myspace page was formed to provide information about future gigs and to provide contact with them to arrange any bookings. If you approach them through this site, expect a prompt response. All the arrangements can be agreed on-line if it suits you.
MLK are currently going out in the South Yorkshire / North Notts/ North Derbyshire areas. Although they can be flexible in some instances [e.g. if the fee is too good to pass up!].
On a more personal note: we are not the types to sing are own praises [when sober, that is], but the last year or so has even surprised us; due to the fantastic feedback & ratio of re-bookings we have been getting.
We do not use, or welcome any unsolicited approaches from, any agencies, as we prefer to play where we want to, when we want to. This way, we are building up some great relationships with some great venues who enjoy getting our exclusive attention; without the hassle of 'middle-men'.
For example, most of our re-bookings are sorted out before we have packed up our gear from the show we have just done, often after the first set. No disrespect intended, but how many agents can deliver that level of service? We can tell you then and there when we are are available without having to refer you to a third party.
We are not interested in any residencies, thanx for asking [those of you who have], but its really not what we are about. Ideally, we like to play up to four shows per annum, per venue, This way, neither party takes the other for granted.
If you have booked us in the past you will know what to expect, if not, what have you got to lose by taking a punt? Ask around about us. Check out our upcoming shows, many are re-bookings, which speaks for itself really.
We look forward to talking to you.
Midlife Krisis
