Chicago-based house battery, Midway Strangers formally known as Jeuce (Josh Harrell and Jolby), have been bumping their brand of chunky, funky bass on the city's music scene for more than three years. A former deep house innovator of the Orlando and St. Louis underground, Harrell has translated his ear for layered sound and quirky beats into residencies at some of Chicago’s most esteemed electronic music venues, including B-Side at Streetside and Selection at Moonshine. His recent launch of his self-helmed Asslap Music label showcases the same thick bass lines that make his live sets pop. Production partner Jolby set up shop in Chicago after making his own mark in Nashville as one of the founding members of the Jackie Junkies collective. Since heading north, Jolby has turned his taste for rolling basslines and dirty beats into dance-floor friendly fare that turns crowds on ear. In the past year, Harrell and Jolby’s distinct styles have merged to create house tracks that are as fat as they are fun. Upcoming releases include tracks on Spatula City, Photo Records and Loop Freaks. Out now Jeuce - PM Beats on Left Hand Man.
