Formed some seven years ago by guitarist James Nicholson and drummer Kirk Haage, Midwestern Remedy has grown to become one of Central Iowa's hardest-working blue collar bands. Playing anywhere from 30 to 60 gigs a year at bars, clubs and events all around Iowa (and occasionaly surrounding states), the Remedy continues to offer its earnest blend of solid classic rock and the insightful, poetic songwriting of vocalist and guitarist Aaron Winters.
So far, the band has released two albums with Des Moines' Remedial Records, 2003's "85 Cent Draws" (the title inspired by the Otho Pub, which the band frequented during recording at Junior's Motel) and the more recent "Beautiful Land" from 2005 (also recorded at Junior's.) Presently, the band continue writing and playing new material, honing and shaping each song in live environments before returning to the studio sometime in the spring.
With the recent addition of bassist/backing vocalist Chris Chandler to the fold, Midwestern Remedy is plotting a new course, both to familiar destinations and a bold new horizon.
