Mighty Isis Music was begun in 2000 by me... Whitney Daane... because I was too afraid to get a real job... I had started out working for the legendary Lionel Conway at Maverick Music, won CMA Song Of The Year with Faith Hill's "This Kiss" and realized no matter how much success you have, a company can be sold in the blink of an eye! I never wanted to work that hard again and have no control over my future... I also wanted to create a company that could develop writers over the long-haul and allow them to write "outside the box"... I had help along the way from some groovy people that are now my "friends in high places": Autumn House (Capitol), Leslie Roberts (SonyBMG), Colin Cameron (Legal Eagle!) and Dylan Puryear (Entrepreneur Extraordinaire)... Currently, Jeff Skaggs and Kim Jones keep my boat afloat! In my opinion, great songs are great songs, and where they are written doesn't always define their genre or where they belong on the radio! Sometimes you get lucky and actually get a cut! Over the past seven years, Mighty Isis Music has been home to some incredible writers: Jon McElroy, Robin Lerner, Tom Leonard, Andrew Dorff, Vince Melamed, Pat Bunch, Don Henry, Stephen Allan Davis, Jamie Ferrugia, Arnie Roman and Sharon Vaughn... We've had cuts by Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Jodee Messina, Lee Ann Womack, Phil Vassar, Jennifer Hanson, Travis Tritt, Hal Ketchum, Maura O'Connell, Jimmy Buffett, the Backstreet Boys, Australian Idols, Hungarian Idols, Czechoslovakian rockstars and intergalactic hillbillies... the list goes on and on... but AT THIS MOMENT we are especially proud of our friend and new artist LEE BRICE on CURB RECORDS!! Check out his new single written with Jon McElroy: "Happy Endings"!! I also consult and run the Nashville operation for the world's greatest music publishing admin company KOBALT MUSIC! Check them out at www.myspace.com/kobalt music!!! Music is my life... working with songwriters is my passion... and great songs are like oxygen to me... In the words of my mentor Lionel, "It's a penny business," so for God's sake don't be in it to get rich quick! If you are an aspiring writer, my advice to you is keep writing... you never know when you will write "that song"... and it only takes one!
Hey Whit! Thanks for your card! IT was really sweet and thoughtful. HOpe you are doing well and taking care of yourself and yes, a trip to Cuco land would be a blast! xo, G
