On Friday August 1, 2008, Mikayla Lee will release the title track off of her album “Might As Well Be Me” all across Europe with Hotdisc.
Hotdisc is one of the most successful media companies in Britain providing audio and visual content for broadcasters throughout the UK via Sky Digital and the internet as well as other media sources. Hotdisc is the leading promotional company for country music in Europe via its Rush Released imprint. Mikayla’s premier slot on the Rush Released cd is geared to make stations take notice of the strong vocals and inspiring message this song encompasses.
This work comes from Mikayla’s debut album and is looking at climbing to the top of the charts. Currently, her music is already playing on a variety of internet radio shows and has made its mark on www.iacmusic.com/mikaylalee (Independent Artists Company). “Might As Well Be Me” started out at nearly 1200 on the IAC charts, and in less than two weeks had risen to number 20! Receiving over 3500 independent plays during that time, from internet stations affiliated with IAC, pushed Mikayla out into the spotlight.
The album includes songs written by Bobby Pinson, Melissa Peirce, and Steve Seskin. They have had hits with Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Rascal Flatts, and Sugarland just to name a few. "Might As Well Be Me", co-written by Pinson and Seskin, is Mikayla Lee’s premier set to wow listening audiences around the world.
A little bit of background...
Mikayla Lee is a country vocal sensation from Tecumseh, OK. At the age of 4, she began taking ballet and tap dancing as an activity and time for friends since being home schooled. Within a year she was asked to join several competitive groups alongside older dancers. During the next few years she collected titles across the states including Jr. Miss Odyssey, Rainbow Talent Outstanding Dancer, 1st Overall in Hall of Fame Photogenic, Stage One Star at Texas Nationals, and many more. However, at just 10 years of age, Mikayla went to her mom and dad and told them she needed to sing!
In the beginning, she managed dance and voice lessons, but in just a few short months, Mikayla’s schedule was filling up fast with demands for vocal performances. Eventually, she went back to her parents and asked to leave the world of competitive dance in order to pick up the guitar and learn to play the keyboard. Though it was one of the toughest decisions she had made in her young life, she knew playing and writing country music was the direction she wanted to go in.
Mikayla has taken her gift of movement polished in dance and combined it with a powerful voice to give a performance on stage that is well beyond her years. By now, she has wowed audiences at the OK State Fair, the State Fair Speedway, county fairs, Hall of Fame Jubilee, Country Music Singers Assoc., American Kids, the Oklahoma Opry, the Centennial Rodeo Opry, and is now moving into surrounding states. Most recently, she has been asked to appear at the prestigious Johnnie High’s Country Music Review in Arlington, TX.
When asked, Mikayla says her goals in life are not just to sing and dance, but to also be a positive entertainer that reminds others one can be active in the community, stay out of trouble, and still have fun.
