Mike has the ability to sound like any Rock n Roll artist he does! He is renowned for being 'Britain's answer to Buddy Holly." Anyone that likes 50's rock n roll to country will enjoy Mike's songs.
'A Tribute to Buddy Holly', his first hit and now a pop classic established him as the British Buddy Holly. In fact it’s Mike that long time friend Paul McCartney invites every year to perform at his Buddy Holly Birthday Tribute. It was 1961 when Mike first met The Beatles when he was playing The Cavern with The Outlaws. They met again on tour and on the TV show Thank Your Lucky Stars where John Lennon offered to write Mike a song, but being pre Lennon and McCartney’s writing fame, he regrettably never followed it up! More hits followed with 'Don’t You Think It’s Time,' ' My Little Baby' and the self-penned 'On My Mind'.
In the seventies, after a brief stint in the motor racing industry, Mike scored a No. 1 with a re-recording of ‘Tribute’ establishing him in Europe. In 1980 Mike had his biggest hit with‘The Sunshine of Your Smile’ earning him a silver disc. No sooner had Worzel Gummidge ended than Mike was offered his next role; Bert Spooner in Are You Being Served? He stayed until the show ended in 1985. Highlights of Mike's career include being Buddy Holly for The Crickets at an Eddie Cochran memorial concert and being honoured with a Gold Badge award for achievements in music.
In 2004 Mike fulfilled a life long ambition and made an album (‘About Time Too’) with Buddy Holly’s original Crickets, and in 2006 Mike headlined The Clovis Music Festival in the states celebrating the music of Holly.
In 2007, Mike released a self-penned single (Hi There Darlin’! Merry Christmas) under his character name from Are You Being Served? – Bert Spooner along with Chanson D’amour – the song which Mike performed in the very last episode and one AYBS fans have asked Mike to put onto disc. Mike continues to perform and can be found writing and recording music in his own studio (which he has built himself!)

hi mike thanks for coming onto our website you probably will not remember but we have met back in the early 80's at the tudor hall in norwich we won the dance contest and quizz which you judged when you were playing there for a promotion for the film the buddy holly story we then met backstage , a long time ago anyhow it's good to have you on board all the best dave and denise
