Too many to list completely, but let me mention a few: Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Burt Bacharach, Holland/Dozier/Holland, Ashford/Simpson, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Steve Cropper, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Smokey Robinson, Sam Cooke - I'll add more when I get time!
Ride The Love Train reached the Top 40 in November 1981 with sales of more than 40,000 copies. I co-produced and co-wrote this song. I also played guitar on the recording. I co-wrote Famous Faces with Keith O'Connell, Jim Hawkins and Gee Bello. Nigel Martinez added an extra section later. This was the most successful single on LOTW's 'Check Us Out' album for EMI in 1982. The next single from this album, No.1 Girl, died a death when it was released early in 1982 with little or no promotion. This has been played 'to death' on UK pirate radio stations ever since! Unfortunately, although I co-wrote this song, I have only received a tiny sum in royalties - because pirate radio pays no royalties! I was never totally happy with any of these recordings, but I like the songs. As it happens, I have co-written about 100 songs in all and I like to think that there is at least a handful of 'gems' in there. See what you think of the next two: Friends was written in 1984 when I was working as part of a songwriter's workshop at Dick James Music publishers and Quest for love was co-written with singer-songwriter-musician Justin Freeman the following year. Both of these have a kind of 'soulful' feel...
