Sounds LikeSemi-Acoustic-Neo-Celtic-Appalachian-Pop-Jazz kind of music! It is mellow throughout with a few up-beat kickers. It has lots of fiddle, some really nice hammer dulcimer tweaks, some fine guitar and bouzouki work, a couple of kick butt tenor banjo pieces, and some great percussion. It has Electric Bass Mandolin and Three different kinds of saxophones. I'll put up some mp3's and you can tell me what it sounds like!

This band came together to produce the Artery Project Soundtrack in Late 2004 and early 2005. This project started out with a book of abstract artwork by Mary Furbee, my wife, who died in April 2004. The project soon expanded to include a DVD to accomodate all the images which wouldn't fit in the book, and this required a soundtrack. What better soundtrack than to record some of the tunes I had written over the past 25 years from when I first met Mary.

I have had the good fortune to play with all these guys before, in the Frothy Band and in Curmudgeon. Bob and Mark go back even further, playing in the legendary band, Hickory Wind. Although Bob and I recorded two albums with Curmudgeon, I never got to record with George, Myron or Mark until this project. They were fantastic, traveling to Morgantown from Boston, Baltimore and DC to help me. Bob did a beautiful job of recording and led me through hours of painstaking edits to end up with the final product. I included 3 of my tunes from old Curmudgeon recordings too.

Curmudgeon was:
Monica Andis
Jack Barker
Mike Furbee
Bob Shank
Larry Spisak

The full details of the Artery Project can be found on my website and I've posted some of Mary's paintings under the PICS section of my profile.

The DVD can be purchased at Film Baby

The book and the CD and the notecards and the prints can be found at MountainMade in Thomas, WV - Tamarack in Beckley WV, and Appalachian Galleries in Morgantown. Or you can contact me directly or go to my website.
