Influences
Too many to include every single one! I love a wide variety of music and I think I'm influenced in some way by all of it. My biggest influences would have to be The Beatles, George Martin, Beck (Hansen), Led Zepplin, Steve Vai, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Pink Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull and many, many more!
Sounds Like
I'm not sure who I sound like. I'd love to hear other people's opinions about that.
This myspace profile is geared more towards my original music. The people who know me from my public performances know me primarily as an acoustic cover artist. I love to cover other artists songs and it's how I make my living. I often do private engagements ranging from corporate functions to backyard parties as well as performing at local restaurants and clubs. I have a pool of professional musicians that I draw from to assemble different ensembles depending on the type of performance. My monthly schedule has me performing with a five piece band one night, a duo or trio on another night, and solo on yet another night. The musicians who accompany me for my live performances play instruments ranging from drums, bass, percussion, electric guitar, violin, flute, soprano sax and tenor sax, as well as some exceptional vocalists. This provides a lot of variety and versatility. So, when it comes to performing covers, the ensemble is arranged according to what's appropriate for the club or to the desires of the client.

The other side of me is my original music which I love to create and record in my home studio. I use a Power Mac G5 and Pro Tools recording software. I play most of the instruments on my recordings but am slowly recruiting other musicians to join me. Rob Stewart (who also accompanies me when I perform covers) plays the bass guitar on "Chandelier" and does a hell of a nice job I must say! As time goes on I hope to finish some more original material and include it in some of my public performances. So, keep checking back into my myspace profile to hear my new recordings and for my schedule of live performances!
HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN:
Growing up in Lansdale, Pennsylvania (USA) I was the youngest of 7 children. I was exposed to music from my older brothers and sisters as well as my parents. Although we're an artistic family in a lot of ways, there was only one musician, my oldest brother.
As I reached my early teenage years I became more interested in music so my parents got me a used guitar. I asked my friends who played to teach me some licks. I eventually got proper instruction and learned music theory and also took singing lessons. I played electric guitar in a few bands, some original, some covers. I had a lot of fun. One band I was in got to open up for Rick Derringer. That was cool. But I kept coming back to the solo acoustic stuff and eventually decided it was what I did best. I've been performing acoustic covers of mostly classic rock for years now and I get a great response. I've played a wide variety of gigs including some functions involving members of the Philadelphia Eagles football team and Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. (See my pics!!!) I eventually started inviting some other musicians to accompany me but I've kept it acoustic even when I use a drummer. I love vocal harmonies and I think they really stand out when you're an acoustic act.
My other love has always been recording. My first recordings were done on a Tascam porta-one four-track. (I think that's what it was called, it was a while ago). Now I use my Mac and my M-box to record in Pro Tools. I love shaping musical ideas and hearing things develop. I've never officially released any of my recordings it's always been for fun. I hope to finally put out a CD of my original recordings this year.
I am so excited that you are playing for the Hot Ribs Cool Music!!! Andy is in the rib contest. It is such a fun day and you will make it even better!!!!
Dude, we're doing Pizza Time the same day again! I'll get some people out there for you. I think you're doing the deck thing and we're doing the inside thing again at night! Sweet!
Hey Mike, We ALL (Kathy, Anne, Marilyn, Mike & I) had a BLAST @ the Old Mill Inn last nite, it's really a *CUTE* place & the fresh roses w/candles throughout the tavern gave it a really nice elegant touch!! Think it would be great if have a chance to play there regularly, esp. when the weather gets warmer, their outdoor area looks really *Cute*, too! You & Chuggy were FANTASTIC (as always) & ending the nite with "Chandelier" was a GREAT Finale, for sure!!! *Smile*
LOL! Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video. :) Yea, we had way too much fun making pot head jokes when were were creating this. :) You're right on the mark.
Just posted the only pic I have online of that night when Rik played my guitar. I'll have to get some other up, but you can check out this one! Talk about a sh*t eating grin!! LOL!!
Thanks for the note! I got my tickets last week--for both the early and late show!
I have actually met and talked to Rik a couple times back in 1999. Believe it or not, he actually played one of my guitars in one of his shows!! I have pics (not posted...I'll have to rectify that!) of him playing my guitar, and one pic he later signed commenting on playing the guitar! My prized possessions!!
HEY SUNSHINE, IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE WE LAST SAW YOU, I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, I WAS THINKING OF YOU AND YOURS AND HOPE YOU ARE ALL DOING WELL. OXOX
