InfluencesI've been trying to be a performer all my life. My mom tells the story of when I was 2 or 3 years old in the family run store/bar back in Bradford Minnesota, the patrons would give me a nickel. I'd go put it in the juke box and they'd lift me up on to the bar to watch me dance to the song. I think I must have gotten bit by the performance bug right about then and I've never been happy without at least working toward a performance of some sort. My most powerful influence has been Jimi Hendrix, but I also am learning constantly from people like Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Greg Koch, Frank Zappa, Doyle Bramhall II, Derek Trucks, Sonny Landreth, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani. I've also been learning from guys I've become associated with since I've come to Maine. People like Eric Green, Myke Billings, John Bendy. The music I come up with covers a pretty wide spectrum. but the over all absoute requirement is that I need it to make you feel something when you hear it.
Sounds LikeThis is our band Big Straw playing in a club in Seattle called the New World Cafe around 1999. This is the last show we played together. Our dear friend Dale Harms, the bass player, passed away not long after this. Thanks to Pete for hooking up a better audio to the video! The song is called Down The Line This is our band Big Straw in Seattle sometime in the mid 90's doing an original. This is Pete Elmberg on drums and Dale Harms on bass. Pete's recently found a way to clean up the sound on this. I hope he does some more, it was a pretty good night for us, though the place was empty. The song is called Standup (Freight Train) This is another original song from the time Big Straw played The Detour Tavern in Seattle. Me, Pete Elmberg on Drums and Dale Harms on bass. This song is called Today. This is the first original Pete and I played together on. I came up with the main aspect of the music, Henry Jenkins wrote and sang the words, and John Gray played bass. This would have been in the early 70's. The song is called Cross The Line. I'll have to try to get the entire song on here though. This is a song written by Arend Trent and me, in an apocalyptic mood. This is Arend Trendt and me goofing around in his garage. This is Arend Trent and I goofing on Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced on acoustic guitars. This is one of my alltime favorite Seattle bands, I've heard they're going to post some more songs from this show from mid June 2009. They have a bunch of really good songs. This is from my old friend Steven Jesse Bersnstein. This is one of my favorites. I can just see him reciting it. Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton together in Japan! Awesome Bangor musician Shannon Denbow.

Thanks for the add! Kentucky's Rufus Huff debut CD now available on ZOHO Roots and Blues Boulevard Records.

Who's Rufus Huff? Named after two obscure Blues men Whistlin' Rufus and Luther Huff, the Glasgow, Kentucky-based Blues Rock quartet is made up of Dean Smith, Chris Hardesty, Jarrod England and Greg Martin, known for his raucous, incendiary electric guitar playing in the South's hardest country rockers, The Kentucky HeadHunters.

Rufus Huff, steeped in the tradition of Cream, Jeff Beck, Free, Led Zeppelin, Mountain, Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies, Cactus, and ZZ Top!!!!
