Currently listening to; Bach Cello fournier suite, A Love Supreme - John Coltrane and Ballads played by the John Coltrane Quartet - fed up of listening to simplistic three-minute pop having heard and enjoyed it all before! Learning Hey Joe, Blackbird and Wildwood Flower.
Mike is a singer-songwriter from the North West of England. He presently works full-time as a self-employed guitar tutor and musician and has a residency at the New Inn, Clitheroe, running the 'New Inn Electro-Acoustic Sessions every Friday night from 9pm onwards (www.myspace.com/newinnelectroacousticsessions).
Mike has previously produced music in an array of line-ups; including a popular acoustic, urban-folk duo, 'Kaikoura' (supported Eliza Carthy and Julie Felix) and a successful electro-acoustic, indie-folk band, 'Indian Runner' (resident band at The Blue Cat Cafe - Stockport and at the Unicorn in Preston). He has constantly written songs and inconsistently performed since 1984, fitting this in between a wide variety of jobs (everything from journalist to postman to Sociology tutor) and travel (from New Zealand to the Himalayas).
He has been settled in a weavers' cottage near the River Ribble since 2004 where he lives with artist Anna Ashworth. He is now gigging regularly covering guitar favourites (everyone from Damien Rice to John Lennon) and playing his own material with local musicians.
His own songs are intended to be honest, melodic and original.
For lessons or performance please contact Mike via this site.
