It's really no secret I am a fan of enormously talented people - you know - people who can actually sing, play every instrument under the sun, write, produce, play live ... all that kind of stuff. I don't like people who get record deals just because they're pretty and have a computer tune their crappy vocals to something palatable enough to swallow ... hell - even then sometimes I kick, scream and bite while being force fed it.
Well I come with some good news about Mike McFadden ... he's an artist I like to call "an artist with the dirt left on". Basically it's music that hasn't been over produced or prettied up by record labels ... it's an organic journey into sound. This 19 year old kid from Baltimore must've grown up listening to Mum and Dad's John Cougar Mellencamp and Counting Crows records and it shows. His style is very much Mellencamp circa "The Lonesome Jubilee" era. Very tasty indeed.
McFadden belts out the songs with passion and also shows us what he can do on guitar, harmonica and piano.
I'm into "West", "The Ooh Song", "Get It Together", "I'll Find My Way" and the rockin' "Looking Back" in a big way.
Mike McFadden may just single handedly save rootsy rock n roll from extinction!!! Check this guy out now!!
