Mike McPhaden is an award winning writer, actor, and a recent grad of the Canadian Film Centre’s Prime Time Television Program. He is currently a writer and story editor on Heroic Film Company's new comedy "How to be Indie." Last year he wrote for TVO's Taste Buds and was chosen for the 2008 Canwest Emerging Writers Programme at the Banff Television Festival. Mike is also an occasional contributor to Jill Golick's indispensable screenwriting blog, Running With My Eyes Closed.
As a playwright, he won two Dora Awards for his hit play, Poochwater, published in the anthology Two Hands Clapping.
Noble Parasites, his darkly comic sci-fi double bill, was nominated for Outstanding New Play. Other plays include Flight 198, Requiem For a Hotel (part of The Gladstone Variations), and he was a co-creator on UnSpun Theatre’s Don’t Wake Me.
As an actor, Mike's credits include The Border, Air Farce, Traitor, Toronto Stories, Blue Murder, Tkaronto, Relic Hunter, The Last New Year, and voice work for TV & radio.
