From the days of attending nearly all club events, in order to watch and learn from the huge range of international djs that graced the decks in his native Melbourne. To his present day position of regularly djing alongside and providing killer productions and remixes that grace the cd wallets of the very djs he use to spend hours watching. Mike Nichol is no five minute wonder or passing sensation but the real deal in every sense of the phrase.
Enjoying wide ranging and heavy weight support from the trance establishment in recent time, Mike has begun to gain the acclaim and success worldwide that so many in his native Australia and neighbouring New Zealand have been enjoying for some time.
Proving a regular stalwart in the cd wallets, tracklistings and radio playlists of the likes of world number one dj Armin van Buuren (A State of Trance), Eddie Halliwell (BBC Radio 1), Ferry Corsten, John O Callaghan, John Askew and Aly and Fila to name but a few. Mike Nichol has firmly established himself as one of Australia's greatest dance music exports in recent time and one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the southern hemisphere in the trance scene for some time.
It has not been a rags to riches fairy tale or overnight rise to stardom but the result of years of hard work, consistently producing the goods whether it be through his eagerly anticipated and widely regarded dj appearances or indeed his recent studio output.
From his EP, 'Durado/Morning Kiss', to his recent remix of 'Imagine', and the forthcoming release 'Lost for Words' on Armin van Buuren's Armada label; all of Mike's tracks have been dancefloor destroyers, bringing with them support from the big jocks and acclaim from trance fans worldwide.
It is little wonder that recent material has found its way onto a plethora of compilations
including tracks and remixes featuring on "Godskitchen Summer Rush", "Oxygen", "Trancemaster" & Ferry Corsten' s latest Gatecrasher compilation to pick several notable examples.
Whilst productions have taken Mike to a new level it is his djing that really proves his quality and cements his reputation as one of the most exciting names in trance music. Enjoying regular and repeat bookings all over Australia, especially in his native Melbourne and also neighbouring New Zealand, he has appeared alongside the biggest djs to have made the journey down under, playing to capacity crowds at some of the regions premier events and festivals on a regular basis.
With bookings and demand in Europe and the northern hemisphere proving his worldwide appeal, Mike Nichol continues to set a standard that is proving hard to be bettered. Proving that dedication and hard work coupled with talent and experience is truly the way forward in a scene increasingly becoming more demanding, knowledgeable and intolerant of overnight, five minute wonders or overhyped, marketing projects that so many new djs and producers are becoming.
Coupling his unique sound, cutting edge productions and an ear for quality dance music with one of the most energetic and technically flawless styles of djing he is truly a dj that leaves dancefloors and clubbers astounded and wanting more. Mike Nichol is truly the real deal and one to seriously watch out for.
