About me: My name is Mike Rechner and I am running for State Representative in the 20th Legislative District. I’m running because I’ve been thinking about the future and I am worried about the direction this country is headed. I have two young sons, four and two years old, and I want to make sure that they – and all kids – have a future. Supporting families is the best thing we can do to help make this happen and this means:
Providing secure family wage jobs. Working families get higher pay and better benefits and businesses get a skilled workforce and a larger consumer base. People should not have to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table. Our focus should be on finding incentives for businesses that provide family wage jobs.
Quality affordable health for everyone. People of all ages need and deserve quality health care they can afford. I want to make it available to everyone – especially our children. Providing health care to children early on can help prevent long-term health issues in the future.
The best possible education system. Today’s globalized economy has increased the need for our public education system to prepare all children for college, job training and the workplace. Educating our children is one of the best investments we can make in their future and in ours. Fully funding education programs and paying teachers what they are worth should be a priority.
Richard DeBolt is too concerned about furthering a political agenda to do the things it takes to provide for families. He voted against assistance for small businesses. He voted against making health care more affordable for children of low-income families. And he has used sleazy political tactics to try and win points on the issue of sex offenders.
It’s time to give the people of the 20th legislative district the kind of honest representation they deserve.
