AmericanaRoots.com writes, "[Reeb] has a pleading vocal tone that is reminiscent of early Bill Mallonee, which brings the longing out of songs like 'Oh, We Need A Change' and 'Consequences.' [He] wears his influences on his sleeve, but doesn't slide into mimicry."
The Illinois Entertainer writes, "While there never seems to be a shortage of earnest singer-songwriters ever so blatantly brandishing their tattered hearts on their worn and weathered sleeves, there are a surprisingly few as thoughtful and talented as Mike Reeb. With songs like the Dylan-esque 'Ease Up Or Give Up The Fight,' the tender 'Oxford Street,' and the sarcastic, yet introspective 'Consequences,' it's entirely possible that with these and the rest of the songs off Without The City Lights, the Midwest can have their very own Bruce Springsteen."
Mike! I just listened to "What Do I Care", and it is freaking amazing! Great job, my friend! You need to sell that one for download! Hope all else is well.
I'm doing quite well. I start playing "Rent" soon & I'm leading my free/improvised music trio at the Green Mill, backing the Uptown Poetry Slam, twice a month.
Sorry it took me so long to respond to your post, I am hardly ever on here. It was great seeing you and we should do something within this year to break our one every two year visitations. And I am bummed that we missed your show!
Hey man, I'm planting a church in LaPorte. We take possession of our building at the beginning of September (but won't move in until November). I'd love to have you back up. Even if you don't play a show, it'd be great to see you. I saw Ben and Dar this morning actually and thought about you. It was in a completely romantic way, rest assured.
i'll definitely be buying that! Revolution sounds great. Stone Temple Pilots did a nice job on that one too. Have you ever thought about doing "how we operate" by Gomez? I think you'd be great for that one. Doing real well here... hope to see ya play soon.
Hey Mike! Revolution sounds good! I'll look out for the album when it comes out! I'm leaving for college on Saturday but hopefully I'll see you when I come home sometime! Good luck with the album! I hope to see you soon! Amy
I wouldn't have a problem with that, the only thing is, have you gotten the rights to release it? I doubt CH will pay for the rights, and don't think they'd put a cover on if it wasn't properly taken care of. But otherwise, I think that would be fine.
Mike, saw you needed to borrow a bass a few weekends ago. Its obviously a bit too late, but let me know if you ever need to borrow anything again, I have a decent bass, and other equipment I'd gladly let you borrow. Hope all is well
