Illustrator/Designer, Mike Thompson has been creating works of art for as long as he can remember. He spent the majority of those years working in the T-shirt industry. Working with such companies as Ecko Unlimited, Rocawear, Timberland, as well as many others.
In the past 5 years, Mike has shifted his artistic efforts toward print and advertising. He is probably best known for his work on the popular Ecko ad campaign, which ran between 2000-2003. The ads featured hip-hop artists such as Method Man and DMX, standing next to Mike's paintings.
In 2003 Mike was contacted by Chicago advertising agency, Burrell Communications and featured in a Coca-Cola commercial. Last year Kanye West asked Mike to create a painting for his "Jesus Walks" video. The piece was shown at the end of the video. Recently, he has done work for several books and magazines and illustrated a cover for an EA Sports videogame.
Last year INFINITI MOTORS featured Mike in their 2007 "Infiniti In Black" campaign.

"Urban Rockwell? Well, we were wondering about this ourselves when we were first introduced to Mike Thompson and his artwork but, after having seen his portfolio and reading his impressive biography we have to agree that yes, this guy is indeed and urban Rockwell! Or better yet, a Hip-Hop version of the famous 20th century American painter and illustrator if you will." - Art Scene International.

The best thing about my job is I paint people who's music I have loved for years. I think the reason my work looks the way it does is that I am a real fan of the subject matter. Put simply, "I love Hip-Hop."
A while ago I was fortunate enough to work in a commercial with some of my favorite artists. Here are a few shots from that...
