MIKE TOURNIER'S biog.
I have been working professionally in the music industry for nearly twenty years now (gulp!), largely as a musician/remixer and producer. I was in FLUKE (wikipedia), FLUKE (Myspace) until 1999 and in SYNTAX until 2004, working with JAN BURTON on vocals, heroically assisted by TIM GORDINE. In 2006 I did some tracks for EXTREMEMUSIC.COM.
After many years of working on darker, moodier material I am currently working on a more upbeat album of wacky/latin/jazz derived material.
There is also a new SYNTAX album in production at the moment. We hope to have this finished by summer 2008.
More info can be found HERE.
I'm always on the lookout for people to collaborate with. Not just for my current album, but for anything interesting/fun/insane.
Management: Fools Paradise.
Hey -- Tickets are on sale now for my show at the ICA in London on the 9th of November! You can get them from the ICA box office, or from the Gaymonkey Shop. I haven't been to the UK in awhile - so I'm looking forward to seeing you at the show and performing some new songs. /ebb
Setback (Risotto) is one of my all time favorite songs. I know it's a different take from Oto, but what was it like during writing that track for Risotto? Where were you guys living or what were you doing then?
Happy Holydaze <^= and best wishes for love, healing and evolution for everyone in the coming year on the completely arbitrary but nonetheless useful gregorian calendar! Just because its a completely made up calendar that has nothing practical to do with the cycles of celestial bodies, it does not mean miracles can't happen. so lets ask the Universe for Truth, Justice and Freedom for ourselves and all sentient beings this year! Party hearty and party safely! best wishes to everyone, even those of you who have me banned! Just remember you're still on my list for the next year 2009! And most of all, BIG THANK YOUS AND LOTS OF LOVE TO EVERYBODY RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THE DREAM THAT IS MYSPACE ALIVE FOR YET ANOTHER YEAR!!!!
Thanks Mike, it's nice for someone to actually notice when I go for less tongue-in-cheek music. There's a couple more up there now, one of which is a sort of continuation of Space Rider.
By the way, great job on the new Syntax stuff. I can certainly say nobody has been disappointed thusfar.
Ah, that's wonderful news! As long as it's in the works than I'm more than happy.
Say, I've been trying to get my hands on the Japanese release of Meccano Mind, with, well, no real luck, hehe... Is there a particular record store you or Syntax is affiliated with which would stock the album?
So far I've...well, there was a Polish record store that I thought had it, although I just realized they don't have it in stock.
Apparently "produkt niedostępny, kliknij powiadomimy Cię jeżeli produkt znów pojawi się w sprzedaży" means "Inaccessible product, click report you if product will appear in sale once again"
Damn...so, yes! Any help or links would be awesome.
Good Music is spread by those who listen to it, especially in the US. as illegal as it may be, i first heard of you when one of my Friends gave me a mix CD with a bunch of burned songs on it, one of them being your, "Message".
Ironically, i also heard of people like Icon of Coil, Diary of Dreams, and VNV Nation the same way, and they are much more agressive in their ad Campaigns in the US.
You do have support in the US, and i apologise that it is late in coming.
A twisted sense of humour is a good sense of humour. Thanks for the generous sayings, and good luck with the album- no doubt I'll be in touch when the demos show up.
Bloody hell, you remembered? That is really impressive... yeah, I'm the same, and this is my 'artist' account... though I prefer to just call it the page where I stick all my stuff that I make since it's a hobby and I just love the creation aspect. Had to add you on this one since I recently deleted the other one- no point in having two MySpace profiles.
Needless to say, I'm really pleased to hear about the whole Syntax thing. There was just something about Meccano Mind that was incredibly well operated- it ran smoothly, and the talent from both you and Jan was clear. From what I read, the way the whole thing was treated by Sony was an absolute travesty- though, if you ask me, this is just the way the four 'large' companies work. All greed and no care.
Kwor, listen to me go. Still, I really look forward to hearing some of the demos. Haunting is a sound Syntax could go for and pull off well, especially considering that 'woooo' thing Jan does on some songs (Bliss, for example). I better add it, don't think I have 'em on this profile (judging by the page as it is, looks like you could do with some comments that aren't bloody spam!).
Apologies for that essay of a comment as well. Cheers man,
Thank you as well, I've been a massive fan of all of the usual suspects (Fluke, Syntax, and this solo work) for a good amount of time now. Great to hear you're going for something with a fun edge to it, it's a really refreshing listen.
I see all these comments about the return of Syntax. You're probably getting sick of being asked, so I apologise but... what's going on with that one?
