Music
Mikey likes his music to kick a little ass! I'm a rocker at heart, so I dig all kinds of hard rock music, especially from the 80s. Bon Jovi is my favorite band, particularly their stuff post 2000. I also appreaciate some softer music at times for relaxation. In general, my music tastes range from Yanni to Metallica, with some good dance songs thrown into the mix. Giddy up!
I mostly enjoy movies that are uplifting and that have a positive message, but I enjoy some fun, meaningless, comedies as well. Click on title for IMDB links.
Of all the books I've read during my years of feasting in the 'spiritual buffet line,' nothing has explained the truth about God and our existence, and why we are seemingly here, any clearer to me than the books of Gary Renard.
Gary’s books address heavy subject matter, while cutting to the chase in no uncertain terms, and doing so in a very entertaining and humorous fashion. I highly recommend them, though they are not intended for the squeamish nor the faint of heart, as the material is not sugarcoated:
About A Course in Miracles: A Course in Miracles is a spiritual, purely non-dualistic, self-study course, often referred to in Gary's books. As quoted from The Disappearance of the Universe, 'The Course is Jesus speaking as an artist correcting the Bible which was allegedly based on his teachings.'
Written in Shakespearean blank verse and loaded with subtly humorous rhetorical questions, the Course is Jesus' teachings the way, I believe, they were intended to be - consistent and uncompromising, all about love and forgiveness, and absolutely nothing to do with sin, fear, guilt, sacrifice, and showing up to church on Sunday. As the Course states, '...those who seek controversy will find it. Yet those who seek clarification will find it as well.'
The Course is all about the healing of the subconscious mind, which entails looking at your illusions, examining them, and eventually releasing them through a process called true forgiveness. As it states in the Course, 'No one can escape from illusions unless he looks at them, for not looking is the way they are protected.'
Though the Course is presented in Christian terminology, it is very Eastern in its theology and practice, as it gets in touch with the power of the mind. I don't recommend taking it on without having read Gary's books first, as it will save you much time while helping you to really grasp the heart of the Course. From The Disappearance of the Universe:
True forgiveness can change the world, for the world is merely a symbol of the collective or the one ego mind. To put it even more emphatically, forgiveness is the only thing that can really change the world, and that isn't even the purpose of forgiveness! The real benefits of true forgiveness go to the forgiver.
From A Course in Miracles:
God does not forgive because God has never condemned. And there must be condemnation before forgiveness is necessary. Forgiveness is the great need of this world, but that is because it is a world of illusions. Those who forgive are thus releasing themselves from illusions, while those who withhold forgiveness are binding themselves to them. As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself. Yet although God does not forgive, God's Love is nevertheless the basis of forgiveness.
I am a former 'Masshole', born and raised on the south coast of Massachusetts, in the city of New Bedford. In the summer of 2004, I took a 'leap of faith,' leaving my cushy job and comfortable life behind for the 'unknown,' when spirit called me to Mount Shasta, CA. Shortly thereafter, I found home 80 miles north, in Ashland, OR, and moved here the following summer.
Spirituality is a very important part of my life, though I do not subscribe to any type of organized religion. However, my childhood did include nine years of catholic school, ouch! Well, I've already done the 'spiritual buffet line,' so these days I just stick to A Course in Miracles as described in Gary Renard's books; the Course is rather simple, but it is certainly not always easy. Faith and gratitude, along with a whacked sense of humor, and a heavy dose of rock n' roll, keeps me 'sane' through it all - otherwise, I'd be jonesin'!
My intention in this current incarnation is to keep practicing living at the level of cause rather than effect and master my lessons, and to awaken to what I really am, while helping others to do the same along the way, as we all shift to a new paradigm of humaneness on this planet, which we sorely need.
Other endeavors I'd like to pursue, while I appear to be here, include manifesting a part-time residence in Hawaii, writing a book about my spiritual path titled Autobiography of a Skinny White Guy, and winning a new jeep on The Price is Right would be pretty damn cool too - giddy up!
Well, I already met the 'bad ass' of A Course in Miracles Gary Renard several times; meeting his ascended master friends Arten and Pursah would be wicked excellent!!!

I learned Love Bites by Def Lep in high school, but I couldn't even come close to playing it now. How are things going??
