About me: Mikkel plays washboard and other percussive junk with the Brass Kings at the The Brasskings.com and often with Charlie Parr as well as other musicians around Minnesota. Mikkel has enjoyed sitting in with the front porch swingin' liquor pigs, trampled by turtles, greg brown, pert near sandstone, summit stunt pilots and other fine folks on occasion.
You can hear his washboard on all of Charlie Parr's records,(Jubilee, Live at Fitgers, Rooster, King Earl, 1922 and Criminals & Sinners), the two Crush Collision Trio records, both of the Brass Kings records, some tracks on the new 'Pert Near Sandstone record,'Up and Down the River' on Dakota Dave Hull's 2007 release "time Machine", some hard to find compilations, tons of live bootlegs and the out of print "Down in the Valley" record featuring Greg Brown, Charlie Parr and jeff White.
That's not a good night for all of us.. but Ben can for sure... Bodhran and all. And here we just rotated TBK off the Top Friends. Guess we'll have to fix that. Thanks - and see you soon.
A little update from the band. our neighbor and washtub player Kurt recently was hospitalized with apendicitis, and will be out of work for THREE WEEKS!! So, we are going to host a fundraiser for him at the 331 club on Friday April 4th. The show is already on the books, but we are gonna ask for extra assistance and donations to help him out. We appreciate it if everyone would come out, and even if you don't tip us or contributr to the "Tubbs Fund" directly, the busier the bar is, the bigger our bonus.
huh, well i guess we were already superficially friends on myspace...but it was great meeting you and talking with ya the other night. Cant wait to hear you all play again!
somebody asked us to try banjo sticks after a fiddlesticks song last summer and we told them there were areas of knowledge that science was not meant to explore.
Dear Mikkel - I had a lot of fun and I could tell that you did too. The photos are now complete as well. And no I do not mind that you are using one for your photo, I'm flattered actually. Hope to see you soon. Jenn
Thanks for the add, Mikkel! You should know that your percusives tend to give our drummer Matt the caniptions whenever he hears you. Don't worry, though--they're the good kind.
