SHORT BIO
An award-winning vocalist, Mikki’s musical roots started with traditional gospel music and later she studied jazz music with some of the best jazz educators/arrangers in the country including Phil Mattson, Ronald Carter, Jason Smith, Steve Tyler and Chip McNeill, Fareed Haque, and Art Davis.
Mikki has sung with Audio Radiance, an award winning vocal jazz group and has performed at numerous IAJE events across the country and abroad, winning many vocal awards.
Later Mikki’s talents began to move toward jazz hybrid style music, fusing of jazz with soul, rhythm and blues and electronic elements.
She won a spot at the Red Bull Music Academy, Seattle 2005 were she was taught by artist; Dave Matthews, Sir Mix A lot, Quest Love, Osunlade and Theo Parrish.
Now Mikki has returned to college to complete her Master of Music emphasizing hybridized composition and is working on original compositions for her debut album.

I’m from SF Bay, love to go to the ocean, but afraid to swim, so I stick to the puddles made by gentle rains and savor the smell of the first few drops. I’m a true seeker of balance, justice and order. Affectionately called the “hippy” by my family-n- friends, my motto “people of the world unite, you have nothing to loose but your chains” that’s Marx. Vegetarian to the heart, wait… there’s no meat in wine right?! I’m real bad at good-byes and can’t handle death…I miss my grad mom. Sometimes I equally love and hate music, but love always wins out in thee end.
