6/7/08: End Of The Year
Well after the major downpours yesterday, we were relieved to be given the thumbs up and end our "gig season" with the WTC gig last night. Thanks to everyone that turned up. We appreciate that the prices were perhaps too high but we hope everyone that came along enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks especially to Kate Pasola. We haven't a clue how much was raised but there was a collosal number of BBQ packs and bottles of Stella consumed. The clear up job this morning was EPIC.

It's been a great year for us as a band. We recorded our first EP in August / December, released as 'Throw Me My Guitar...', which was reviewed by the Evening Chronicle in May. We played over 30 shows around the North-East and even branched out into Turkey for an acoustic set. The highlight however was undoubtedly supporting Involution at the Carling Academy. That night will live long in all of our memories, the crowd was ridiculous..

Recently we've been writing again and recording demos in preparation for our next recording session in September. We hoped to be able to sell our first batch of T-shirts and more badges at the tennis club last night but they weren't delivered on time, so watch this space over the next week or so...
*****
Next year we're hoping still for bigger and better things. We've got another couple of big shows currently being organised for later on this year, and perhaps some kind of tour next Summer. We're hoping that the recording in September will go well, and that we can put our first ever press-pack together to send around the country.
*****
With Ben off to NewZealand next week, Jack to Italy, and Daivd and Joe in various other places, we haven't got anything planned for the Summer, but hope to return with something bigger, and a bit different in September.

Special thanks this year to all of the MLC lads, namely Chris Dancer, Karl Harms and Rob Young. To Gary Beckwith, David Barton and 'Hospital' Ray for their faith and promotion. To Sound Inc., Base HQ and Jakes Guitars. To all the bands who we've played alongside and had the pleasure of meeting and drinking with. And most of all to the people who have followed us across the North-East who must be getting bored of hearing Rained Off at the end of every set, and that stupid little link between Stereo Abuse and Modern Age Disguise, and that proper cheesy lame Postman Pat cover...without you people none of this would happen, and we thankyou from the bottom of our little musical hearts. Enjoy the Summer. See everyone in September.

P.S - To all the dodgy promoters who we've dealt with this year, to all the pretentious bands who enjoy being famous in their own back gardens, to all the people who seem to be going out of their way to prevent the young NE music scene from thriving like it really could and should be, we know who you are.
30/6/08: Mild Peril to appear at 'Shine Awards' this Tuesday & Wednesday at PCHS - get in.
We are offering bands and singer/songwriters a course at the college free of charge, this will include a free practise room, recording and a gig as incentives and will allow your band to progress further. We will also promote yourself to get the word out about you more.
Only 16+ members can join the course, however if there is any below the age of 16 they are still welcome.
If your interested, give us a shout and we will get you enrolled.

Either follow the links above or search "Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire" on iTunes.
"Produced by ¡Forward, Russia!'s Tom Woodhead, debut single A Fire Born In Dallas (released on the Pay For The Piano imprint) finds post-hardcore and prog influences welded together to create a sound that is both vulnerable and self-assured. Admittedly, the usual influences of Fugazi and At The Drive-In are worn pretty obviously, but the band are far more than mere copyists.
Indeed, at their single launch they offered an intense and impassioned performance, with snare cracks and upstrokes reverberating around the venue.
Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, it would seem, have more than enough firepower in their sonic arsenal to kick some of the music world's feted young pretenders into touch. " The Metro
