We like it all and can't pin it down... our music is diverse and eclectic. I guess we could say that we have been influenced by all or none...

We are Militant Hippi: a tongue in cheek, politically aware, fun, energetic, original, talented group of manboys and in possession of an uncanny ability to pull shit (no pun intended) right out of our asses and sometimes in front of thousands of people to boot. We have been busy in the recording/practice studio and doing shows... now it is time for us to get info out to some of our fans... We like paper fans the best. PEACE
THE HISTORY:
Militant Hippi was born out of the Dakeng Refuge in Taichung, Taiwan. Boston Paul held weekly jams where musicians and artists from around the Island would come to mingle, play music, BBQ and do whatever else tickled their fancy.
After about 6 months, it was noticed that the same guys namely Geoff, Justin, Michael (also Native Space), Stephan and Torah were permanent fixtures at the Dakeng Refuge scene. They had about 5 songs they wrote before they thought themselves 'a band.' Without fail, every week, there would be a new song in the mix. That is when they decided that perhaps they should do this regularly.
Paul, once called a Militant Hippy because of the paradox that is his life, named the band and the rest is history. Sadly, Stephan and Torah eventually had to go back to their homeland, but then Militant Hippi added Dong Yang (Native Space/PhiloSophia) and Maako (AKA Dr. Chen) and finally Marc on guitar.
There has been some shuffling around with the Boyz that make Noyz, for they all play a variety of instruments in the band. Geoff on bass is also a guitarist, Maako plays all forms of electronics. Boston Paul started out playing the keys and percussion and ended up a vocalist. Justin too started as a percussionist but now lays down the funky rhymes and bibox sounds, Michael began with the Tabla and some vocals, and is now the kit drummer and one of the main vocalists. Marc started on guitar and still plays guitar, but on occassion lays down some very funky piano and jazz organ. Dong Yang started out as the kit drummer, but now rips out heavy riffs on the guitar thus completing the very unique sound that Militant Hippi is becoming known for.
THE NOW
This past summer (2007) has seen another shuffling. Dr Chen unable to perform surgery as of late has taken a sabbatical for an indefinite amount of time. He is now hitting the slopes and writing poetry in Austria. Justin was signed in Hollywood as the newest boyband member for insync giving them a brash fresh new sound and Marc has actually joined the marines and will be stationed in Iraq. He said he needed inspiration for new material.
The Hipsters have performed with 4 instead of the motley 7 but recently with slow and careful deliberation, they shanghai'ed Abe from The Idiots; the once guitarist turned bassist back to guitarist and vocalist. Still searching for another vocalist and frontman to accompany the ever sullen and deranged Boston Paul om stage, out of the Grim came the 'Hope from Leeds' England adding a fresh if not slightly demented sound to the Militant repertoire. It is a wonderful new relationship though no one in the band quite understands what Hopey is saying half the time.
Stay tuned for more updates.... Peace and Love
