Welcome

Welcome to the Mill Beach a spacious and friendly pub situated on the banks of the Blackwater Estuary between Heybridge and Goldhanger.

The building has a delightful sprawling layout containing a number of distinct yet complimentary areas, from the comfortable and recently refurbished main bar area and activity stage to the elevated restaurant with stunning panoramic views across the estuary. Alternatively you can sample the chill out zone with sumptuous leather furniture or the second bar if you just fancy a quiet drink and chat. For the budding ‘fast eddies’ amongst you there is the spacious pool room adjacent to the second bar, with a full size table.

Outside we have a covered and heated smoking area for those hardy souls who continue to puff away in defiance of the ban and for warm summer days there is the top deck patio which sits beside the sea wall and doubles as beer garden and ‘al fresco’ restaurant. Along side the building is a sizeable patio area and large field used for outdoor events, whilst the front of the premises is bordered by a sizeable car park.

To contact us to check what's on or for booking meals in the restaurant, call us on

.

The Bar

At the heart of any pub are the beers and spirits it sells and the Mill Beach is no exception. Our well stocked and maintained cellar contains a fine selection of ales and well known brands of spirits. Wine is well catered for with a fine variety on sale both at the bar and in the restaurant. For those who prefer not to indulge in alcoholic beverages, soft drinks are available and tea or coffee is served at all times.

The Restaurant

Good food at good prices we offer an extensive selection of culinary delights from the outstanding value of Sunday carvery and traditional pub grub to mouth watering a la carte dishes lovingly created by our chef. We have delicious food to suit everyone at the Mill Beach, see the seasonal food menu for our current range of dishes. Lunches are served from Wednesday to Saturday between 12 and 3pm and are replaced on Sunday by carvery which is served between 12 and 5pm. Breakfasts are served from Wednesday to Sunday between 8am and 11 am.

A recent addition to the food offering is evening bar snacks which are available on Saturday evenings between 6pm and 10 pm and we can even offer them as take aways.

Music Events

We offer a variety of live music throughout the year with a number of excellent local bands guaranteed to entertain you. For those who enjoy a more hands on approach there is the state of the art Karaoke machine with over 8000 songs to choose from.

3rd Tuesday of each month is the date for the popular ‘Thud in the Mud’ jam night, featuring a quality house band. Backline amplification, drum kit and pa are provided just turn up with your chosen instrument(s), put your name on the list and get to join in. All genres and abilities welcome.

New for 2009 is the Acoustic Raw night hosted by Mike O'Leary. This is an acoustic open mic evening for all genres and abilities and will be held every Thursday except for the first Thursday in the month, bginning on March 12. Americana day will be a monthly event held on Sundays between 5pm and 8pm and features the finest local exponents of Americana music - a fusion of alt.country, blues , skiffle, cajun etc. Normally this will be held on the secondy Sunday but it may be moved for bank holiday weekends etc. Check the gig guide for details. Throughout the year there will be a few outdoor music events on a purpose built stage in the grounds of the pub. For details of these and all other musical activities at the Mill Beach, check the gig guide.

Rehearsal Gigs

On various week nights throughout the year we will be running rehearsal gigs. At these bands will be working on their material but rather than being private it will be open to the public. If you ever wondered how your favourite band suddenly came up with that new song here is your chance to go and view the formative process warts and all
