I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire with my wife and two daughters. We have lived here for over 11 years and .. our lives changed over 4 years ago because we made a decision to be in better balance as a family and parents.

How that all came about :

More than 4 years ago now, I was working as the Chief Financial Officer at a 400 bed hospital north of Boston.

I was working 60 hours a week plus I was commuting more than 35 miles each way. I left the house before my family was awake most days and arrived home just in time for dinner and then to bed. My career was dictating my life and my family was a distant second. At the time the Hospital was facing some difficult financial issues, as my management team was working to balance the budget. One option being looked at was a complete re-organization of the management team at all levels. So the door was opened a crack for me and I decided it was time to push it wide open and make a complete change.

I had to decided it was not being worth it to my family to continue this daily stressful grind all for a weekly paycheck. Yeah it was a great paycheck,but what I was giving up with my family and being part of their lives was it worth it.

So I chose my family over a the job and the stress. When I made that decision my oldest daughter was 8 and her sister was 1 and I was missing everything in their lives, school plays, teacher conferences and just plan watching them grow up.

So I fired my Boss and Quit my Job!

Became my own Boss!

Well I did not give up the great paycheck that easy, as I said the door was cracked open and I pushed open and negotiated a package to leave on my own FREE will.

So I started searching on the internet to buy a business or a franchise, that's when I came across an ad asking me if I wanted to make $250K my first year in business. So I answered the ad and nice guy from Southern California called me back, he asked me a few questions,asked me to attend a conference call that Sunday night, then we talked he answered my questions, and then I started in my first business from home.

To say I was an overnight success with my first internet company would be an overstatement. I struggled at it for two years, spent a lot of money learning how to advertise on the internet and most importantly learning to be confident business owner. So although they were not financially rewarding years, they years well spent.

In that business, I was introduced to the whole concept of personal development and how to become successful. Now remember I was a an executive before I took this leap into entrepreneurship, so i thought I was I had this success thing done. Boy was I surprised, what I was, was a successful employee, I had moved up the ladder in the company. To become successful in your own business, is a whole different ball game.

To be successful in business you had to develop into a true leader, you had to believe in everything you were doing and that you would have the success that you desired and deserved. So I took that journey into self development and I learned a lot about myself and what I truly desired in life and what it takes mentally and emotionally to get there. The one thing I did learn was that put the right goals, the right why's together and you focus on the end result, you can achieve anything your desire. Plus you need the magic final ingredient, which is to persist without exception, you can only fail, if you quit and I was not a quitter.

Roll ahead four years - a typical day in my life.

I wake up without an alarm clock.

I get dressed for the day, shorts and a casual shirt.

I go downstairs, make breakfast for my two daughters,  then my wife and I drive then to school and before heading home we go out for a casual breakfast at the local spot.

Around 10:00AM, I go to my office, review email and start go overing my to do list for the day. Which most days includes reviewing my advertising campaigns and look at some other options to diversify.

After working for a few hours, its time to go pick the girls up at school, so I head out for the afternoon pick-up.

Then after dinner, I spend maybe another 2 hours in the office on training calls or team calls, many of my new consultants have jobs still, so being in the office a couple of nights a week is a must.

Total work time on average 6 -7 hours a day, total time with my family on average 6-7 hours a day.

Before I got started my work day with commute was 13 hours and family time was about 3 hours. Now my life is in balance and I have been able to replace my Executive income from the comfort of my home office.
