Milo Martin, originally from Carmel/San Francisco, converged on the Los Angeles spoken-word poetry scene in 1995, hosting and producing literary/art/music events such as Kerwhackd and Projector at ONYX, The Church of Miles Davis at Zen and Skychurch 2000 at Glaxa Studios. He also cofounded the original Hollywood/Los Feliz Slam Poetry Team, later winners of National Slam Competitions in 2004 and 2005.
Milo's poetic style can be described as melancholy metaphysical. He coined the term and represents the Utopian Nihilist movement in 21st Century poetry. Milo holds a Master's in Poetics from USC and since 2004 has completed four international spoken-word tours with the international ensemble, POESIE UNITED. He is also a member of the Los Angeles spoken word crew, CENTER OF A DEAD STAR with Rich Ferguson, Chris Tannahill and Jerry the Priest.
His new collection of poetry and art, Poems for the Utopian Nihilist (Echo Park Press) was published on March 1st, 2008 and is available on Amazon and in Los Angeles at Book Soup, Skylight Books and Village Books.
