Though we’ve known each other since high school, it took until Milosh’s 3rd record “ III “ before we began playing music together. Mike was writing the record in Thailand and would send tracks over to Paul to put down guitar. In the spring of 2007, Mike finished “III” and we began rehearsing for upcoming shows in Europe. It was on our way home from a tour in Ireland where we spent a week in London and the seeds of New Territory were planted. Roaming the city, visiting galleries, crashing pubs and hanging out with friends for impromptu singing on the South Bank, we decided the first thing we’d do back in Toronto was hit the studio and start writing together.
With no agenda and no pre-conceived notions we started to record whatever came to us. Though we both come from different parts of the music world, there was enough of an overlap so that finding the common ground was really easy. We drew on our influences; from Satie to the Beach Boys and really let the live performances and sounds of the instruments shape the tracks as we were recording. A very big thanks to Serena, Rhonda and Coenraad for contributing to the record.
Your songs sound amazing with a lot of poesy and melancholy! I already love "All I can say" and "Move on"... Keep on making some gorgeous music! Take Care, Cha' ;)
