LET'S TALK MILO Z

He calls the music “Razzamofunk”, a combination of Rock, Rap, Jazz, blues & Funk. The sound is what you might expect from a kid growing up on New York City’s Lower East Side (now the East Village). A culturally diverse neighborhood once considered the “melting pot” full of poets, artists, musicians, junkies, punk rockers, winos and families of modest means. It’s only natural that Milo Z’s music would have a gritty, funky, soulful edge, hence – Razzamofunk.

Starting out as a drummer and part time bicycle messenger, Milo Z began rapping, which eventually led to singing/songwriting. To watch Milo Z in action is to watch a true performer. A total professional, Milo sings, dances, conducts, orchestrates, and interacts with the crowd, all the while dressing and grooving in a style that is unique and all his own. His connection with the audience is undeniable. He can make 5,000 people feel like they’re in his living room and he can make a small venue feel like it’s “the Big Rock Show”.

Milo Z has recorded 4 albums; Basic Need to Howl ( Mercury/Polygram), Live & Bumpin (Schoolcut/Arabesque Recordings), Sweet and Nasty (Z Booga Records), and most recently Up On The Hill, Live in Athens, Greece (Z Booga Records) which is a DVD as well as a CD. For the recording/filming of “Up On the Hill” Milo Z brought 13 musicians complete with dancers to the famous Lykabettus Theatre in Athens, Greece.

Milo Z is currently working on his next studio CD (yet untitled) due out sometime in 2009. Milo Z is also working on a documentary film about the making/recording of Up On the Hill, Live in Athens, Greece. Milo Z tours frequently in Europe and performs regularly on the east coast. The band has just returned from a successful stint in Belfast, Ireland and most recently broke new ground in Russia performing at one of the most prestigious clubs in Moscow.

Milo Z has shared bills with Maceo Parker, the Neville Brothers, Al Greene, Chuck Brown, Average White Band, The Meters, Spin Doctors, KRS1, Massive Attack, and Robert Randolf, just to name a few. Milo Z has had original songs placed in TV and Films. The song “Dog” was featured in Warner Brothers major motion picture See Spot Run with David Arquette and Anthony Anderson. It also was featured in a Baywatch episode, Talk Show, starring Pamela Anderson. Milo Z’s song “Food” was featured in The Deli, starring Mike Star, Ice-T and David Johansen. Most recently Milo Z had three songs featured in the movie Cupidity, produced and directed by John Gallagher. Milo Z has also appeared on the Carson Daly Show ( NBC), the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, Rhythym and Dues on the Metro Channel, and has made several appearances on Mad TV Europe. Milo Z Funk |
