This could take ALL DAY!
The three greatest keyboard players in my life: Steve Winwood, Stevie Wonder, & Tony Banks from Genesis. Steve Winwood was once called the Ray Charles from Birmingham, England. He's a great appreciator of r&b and soul music. A legend in his right, he's played with all the greats, been sought after for session work and is great guitar player! Lately he's combined his tasty B-3 Hammond work with Latin rhythms. Stevie Wonder is the funkiest human on Earth other than James Brown of course. A modern composer of the highest possible standards. I love Tony Banks because of the textures he uses and he's the one who introduced me to these fourths which I love.
I also love guys like Federico Gonzalez Pena (MeShell N'degeocello) and Monty Alexander.
Federico is pretty funky too. And Monty released one of my favourite albums of all time ten years ago: Yard Movement. it's a jazz album with lots of reggae rhythms. His version of Exodus is almost transcendant.
Then there's artists like Prince, Moloko, Meshell N'Degeocello and lots others who I liberally steal from.
Then there are the songs! Oh man, like Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb (I'll play that forever) and Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing and Prince's The Question Of U and Stevie Wonder's Superstition and Sting's It's Probably Me and The Roots' The Love Of My Life and Bob Marley's Redemption Song and David Bowie's Heroes and Michael Franti's What I Be.....See? ALL DAY!
Sounds Like
A beat, a phat bass line, real nice pads and a line or two - of the musical nature.
The equipment I use:
Yamaha Motif 8 ( a dream instrument), Korg Polysix, Korg X3, Korg Poly-800, Apple iMac G5, Logic Express, Helix Firewire board and a lot of luck!
..
Greetings all,
It's official!
I finally went live on the iTunes store and other music download services in late October! The cd of original songs I quietly put out in summer of 2007, "Chill Room", has landed it's way on iTunes (USA, Canada, UK/EU & Japan), Napster and E-Music.
The EU store covers Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland (Republic), Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Just do a search in the iTunes store for "Milty" or "Chill Room".
So for all your international friends, please pass it on.
Thanks,
M - miltymoo@hotmail.com
Not really... but it still serves a purpose for me! The bulletins are great, assuming you don't have 8 million friends. And of course it's good for checking out new bands...
