Miriam "Mimi" Jacobs is an author, poet, founder of an independent publishing company, mentor, and professional speaker. Prior to this, Mimi was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years. She was first published while still in high school in the school's publication, "Jabberwocky".

Today, Mimi is making a tumultuous presence both in print and online. But more importantly, her readers and fans love her, and her work. Jacobs is a master of several literacy genres and the author of several books including, I No Longer Color My Hair: A Memoir, Illuminations: Poetic Inspiration, Embracing Self: Inspiration on the go, an anthology called Embracing Candace, and My Name is Not Monkey Girl.

She also penned How to Jump From a Ferris Wheel & Land on Your Feet, a ten-volume inspirational series. The books are multi-author anthologies with a theme of, "From tragedy, to triumph."

In March, 2007, Mimi launched her highly-acclaimed independent publishing company on a shoestring budget The name was contrived as a tribute to two of her three granddaughters, Candace and Alyse. Her enthusiasm has helped her shape her branding and build a dynamic team around her.

Mimi is a life-time New Yorker and currently resides with her husband, Charles, her granddaughter, Candace, and their pets.

Seven years into recovering from Major Depression, Mimi seeks the love and support of friends both in cyberspace and in the real world.

"When we embrace each other as fellow human beings, we are living with unconditional love, with unconditional kindness, and with compassion. As we raise our children, we must instill in them these basic human qualities. Love makes the world a much better place to live. Today I love myself as I love my fellow human beings."
    ~Miriam L. Jacobs

My Name is NOT Monkey Girl

"My Name is Not Monkey Girl" serves as a tremendous resource for parents, teachers, grandparents, schools and libraries alike.

It was written with the aim of teaching children the importance of unconditional kindness, patience, love, tolerance, and compassion.

And, inspired after a child called Candace a monkey girl. At the time, Candace was approaching her to play.

Author Miriam Jacobs is on a mission. The ten-time author continues to raise funds for facial reconstructive surgeries for her 9-year-old granddaughter, Candace, through her publishing company and generous donations from kind-hearted humanitarians.

Along the way, she is promoting tolerance, education, and compassion for those who have Giant Congenital Nevus; a rare skin disorder that Candace was born with.

    ~ R.I.P Three Little Angels ~

    by Auntie Mimi

    Awoke with thoughts of angels
    Danielle came to mind
    that pretty little special girl
    who left the world behind
    Too soon, so soon
    she wasn't even four yet
When God said, "Come here, my child
Come meet me at the gate of Heaven."
Awoke with angels flying all about my head
    I saw Susan, sweet Susan
    laying lifeless; she was dead
God knew why He took her
    This innocent child of two
    Couldn't understand it then
Not sure if I really do
    And, Shantel, the oldest
    of the three -
    With beauty, brains and as
    wise as she could be
Her life was short, only six when she died
for all of my sweet angels
a river of tears we all cried.
    Awoke with dreams of angels
they are always in my heart
Not a day ever goes by
When the moments that are dark
    Fill me with sadness,
    overtakingmy soul
    sending me over the edge
to a dark and lonely road
    where I sit and contemplate
    my angels who are gone
who left this world too soon
And flew up to the Beyond.
I know that they are happy
    laughing, bouncing with glee
    But, I sure do wish
I had them sitting right beside me
Rest in Peace, my pretty angels
    you now belong to God
    Someday we'll meet again
In the Great kingdom of the Lord...

(This poem is dedicated to the memory of
my three nieces who died tragically
in 1987 when a house fire roared.
They are in Heaven with my brother
and their mother. God bless their souls.)

~ Depression... it's no joke.

If you know someone who thinks that suicide is an option, do something to help... this just might be a cry for help from the darkness that depression has taken them.

Sometimes in life, we just need someone who believes that we can. And more importantly, we must have the guts to believe we can. Yes, We sometimes get knocked down by our circumstances and situations, people run off and the thing that we want does not give the impression to want us. But it is in those times when all hope is gone that our understanding must raise its beautiful head. We can make it. It may not be easy, fast or rational but in the blink of an eye or a snap of our fingers, things can turn around.

    Bedtime erotika!

    Unimaginable beauty,
    Draped upon my bed,
    Sharing herself so lucid,
Her juices pour as like wine,

Glistening in the palid glow of the fullmoon,
    Her sighs and pantings,
    My favourite tune...

    Unimaginable ecstasy,
    Draped elegantly with wanting,
    Sharing herself, so sacred,
I kiss her flower-folds and drink her liquid...

Gleaming in the flicker of candle-flame,
A Leo-ess is hard to tame!

we're a new band and have had one rehearsal, but we're really excited about what we've got goin' on - i've put our first rehearsal tracks on here - i know, pretty brave, but if it is all possible ... could you check us out and perhaps provide some feedback - we think we got something pretty cool goin' on, but of course we think that, i don't know ... i'm trying to get other peoples blunt, brutal and honest opinion.  if you have any time to spare, i'd accept any constructive criticism provided.
    thanks

Many of you, my dear friends, have asked me how JJ is doing. I'm caring for him like a sick child nearly 24 hours a day. I don't get much sleep (I'm not complaining) these days so I often forget to get back to you as I have limited computer time as well. It's not that I don't read your messages or think about what wonderful friends God has blessed me with. I truly enjoy hearing from you and love getting messages, comments and emails. I do want you to know that if I don't reply right away I will as soon as I get a chance. I love each of you dearly and thank you so much for everything.

We need many, many prayers for JJ. Prayers were answered for Winston (and continue to be) and without you I don't know if he'd be here with us today.

I have put up a web page on Winston's site for JJ. This will make it easier if you would like to check in on JJ. I will continue to update this page. I invite you to visit it as well as our regular updates page. Here is the link:

    http://www.wingrace.com/JJ.htm

Thank you so much for caring. Your friendship means the world to me.

    Many Hugs and Blessings,
Sharon, Nathan & the Bulldogs (Winston, Gracie & JJ)
