Sounds Like
No one likes to say they sound like someone, so I'll repeat what others have said; "You sound like Madonna" "You sound like Kylie Monogue" You sound like Jennifer Lopez" ....etc. I think people are associating the style of my music with theirs. But, I have to say I'm flattered - they are talented ladies!
Singer/songwriter, Mimi Rossi was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She soaked up a love of music ranging in style from the early days of hip hop & R&B, to her moms favorite oldies and funk, to her dads love of the standards and big band. While making a pilgrimage to New York to promote a single she independently pressed up, Accidentally Yours, she discovered and fell in love with house and dance music. The rest is current history.
Mimi Rossis project, Listen To The Music, offers up an infectious blend of alternative dance grooves to straight up hard-hitting dance cuts, Her vocal style flows hypnotically over every rhythmic beat. Tinged with her travels, the singer-songwriter brings her pop vocals to a varied blend of dance music, and infuses it with the mélange of style and rhythm that permeate her richly diverse hometown.
Listen To The Music was a long time coming, says Mimi, How could I not release an album that had so many talented people contributing to it. People such as; Chuckii Booker, Eddie Miller, Douglas Hirai, Jaywill Sands, Joy Basu and a Swedish collaboration with Starbricks, Frej Jonsson and Morgan Jonasson.
Mimi Rossi loves the freedom of expression and artistic exploration that songwriting has afforded her. She is a frequent collaborator with other talented artists. While with Famous Music Publishing, she worked with artists signed to Virgin, Warner Bros., and MCA. Mimis recent collaboration is with Linda George, an internationally known Assyrian artist.
Able to work with many different kinds of musicians; she is a natural collaborator. But, underneath Mimi's flexibility is the solid foundation of a beautiful voice; one that expresses happiness, sorrow, and one hell of a party!
