Mimi began to pursue acting after ending a successful, professional modeling career (Baby Phat, Polo-Ralph Lauren) and relocating from New York to North Carolina in late 2002. It was not long however, before people started to take note that Mimi’s true talent actually lay in performing. She wasn't starting a new career; she was simply doing what she loved, what came naturally...acting.
Mimi has worked on several indie projects as a principle including “For Thy Love,” a direct to video feature film that was released in Blockbuster’s locations in late 2001. She has also had guest appearances in feature films “ATL,” “The Gospel,” performed as an extra in Tyler Perry’s hit stage play turned movie, “Madea’s Family Reunion,” had guest appearances throughout season six of UPN’s “Charmed,” co-hosts a weekly, local Atlanta program called “Movie Screams” and has starred in a student production of the stage play “Two Trains Running” at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, GA. In addition, she just completed filming for the short film “A Woman’s Worth” and wrapped up her role as stand in on the set of Tyler Perry’s newest sitcom based on his original stage play, “Meet the Brown’s.”
Mimi believes the only way to present and be the best is to practice her art ongoing. Therefore, she continues to study the craft of acting under the tutelage of highly acclaimed LA/Atlanta acting coach, Nick Conti at The Professional Actor's Studio in Buckhead. She also participates in non-paid productions when her time permits. Mimi credits her talent, tenacity and strength to her mother, brother and few close friends who have always supported her endeavors and believed in who she is and what she is capable of. She believes they each, individually contribute to her character and the individual that she has become.
