Shortwave radios were at one time my favourite instrument to play. I need to get them back into my life. I used to have a really big beautiful radio, very strong, that picked up signals all over the world, and of course would change depending on the Ionosphere. It had a metal flip top which underneath showed a map of the world and all the 'Regions'.
Karlheinz Stockhausens Hymen for me is probably the most dramatic shortwave music. It is spellbinding.
The Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Saray) is an enormous water reservoir built in 532 by emperor Justinianus. It was build to provide the big palace with fresh drinking water.
